Do I understand you correctly? Are you on an FTP website, and trying to download the song using Winamp? Try THIS next time. RIGHT click on the files name that you see. A menu will popup. A windows menu. Click on "Save Target As" and choose a place on your hard drive that you'll remember. Save the file there. Later, you can navigate BACK to it, Double click it, and Winamp will PLAY it.

HEHE is a bitch to download music with out DSL or Cable . Your best Bet is Bearshare Since you dont get cut off belief me i try every other ones. Try to update your modem driver. i call you cheap bastard becouse of your conection not your pc the pc processor speed or quality is not important internet conection is i give you some advice . here it goes = if you have a friend with decent DSL or CABLE ask him if you can use his conection for 1 or 2 hours max each weekend or what ever ..you can download a shit ton of music in 2 hours. dont forget to defrag your hard drive after your done.

I despise Bearshare...if I absolutely need to use a FastTrack client I go for K-Lite Resurrection. I prefer Limewire Pro, which I have no problem keeping a connection on (it just has a smaller selection of music)...

Actually i find WinMx very useful and i get surprisingly fast speeds. 30kbp/s-300kbp/s.

As for the original poster. If you are trying to find music over FTP's or http servers you will not get very far due to the shitty copyright laws...use bittorrent, irc,DC++,or winmx.

F(File)T(Transfer)P(Protocol) was a simple protocol created in 1985 used for sending and recieving files through sockets. I am currently developing my own ftp client ;)

Where are you getting this music from?

FTP : File Transfer Protocol. An FTP server is a computer that is used to store files, these files can be accessed from a remote location (ie Via the internet) on port 21 (the port that FTP uses).

To access a FTP server you need an FTP client, internet explorer has one built into it but it's pretty crappy....

you can despise all you want but every major song from the 60s and 70s is there . and i have try all the others popular ones nothing beats bearshare . winmx is big fucking joke. limewire is conected to bearshare so big deal i have downloaded music and once in a while the source is limewire since the bearshare window tell you . and yes i had limewire before more than once. the only other better than bear is bit torrent but is more complex plus the dick wants $10.00 donation.

a long time ago winmx was not too bad but then everybody wanted but did not wanted to share and would diconect you in a heart beat. speed wise it was never faster than Bear . OF course bearshare is link to my city so maybe thats why im getting higher speed on my DSL. AND before i go bear is conected to limewire and a bunch of other i forgot the names . But i had try every popular program and then some i end up removing them and keep my bear. now music taste also can make a big difrence . but all the shit from 60s 70s is there 89% of the time. with reliable conection that dont drop or put you on a waiting list a mile long.
