Yes!!!! If you wanna avoid prosecution, DONT SHARE!!!

It's not illegal to download any music you have the rights to, and you have the rights to download if you own the cd. They're not going to find everyone who downloads the file and question if they own the cd or not.

But under the DMCA its illegal to share that data, that means you an download whatever you want, cause you're not breaking the law (well you are if you don't have the rights to it, but they're not going to check that out... It'd take to many resources, they'd have to prove that you don't own it, which is very hard to do.) But you are breaking the law if you're sharing.

Turn file sharing off... kinda basterdly, but its true.

my friend's mom had 923 songs, mainly old shit and its not a fine. She is actually being sued for the amount in the share folder....by a record company I think. They said at LEAST 750 per song maybe more

I'll probably get flamed for saying this, but I feel sooooo guilty about downloading free music. I just feel like it's a form of stealing, just my opinion. My conscious doesn't allow me to do it.

there's a lot of music out there that's free to download... that the artists want people to have.

music should be free, but we all have to eat, so, yeah...

i download music, but that's not where artists get most of their money anyway.. i go to a lot of shows. if i download a song and like it, ill go see them live. that's giving them money/support..

I don't know...it just occured to me, though...

I technically do get my music for free. I'm a dance instructor and if I want any certain song or any certain album, my boss pays to get it downloaded and because it's used for a business they deduct it from their taxes. It's a win-win situation.

So thats why there are so many leechers.. Downloading tunes is the only way. When I buy an album there are usually 1 or 2 decent tunes on there and the rest suck!

You should DL want you want, store it on a decent MP3 player and delete the rest from your harddrive.

ive only bought certain ways of albums for the past years
Recently I bought a whole series of John Frusciante CD's
He released one of them every month for 6 months
And everyone was totally badass and every single song was ripping watery burning etc
I also bought a meditation CD designed to enduce meditative brain waves
Turns out I like to meditate along to John's music alot more and have long ago misplaced the meditation cd ;););)
Again, the way of music is free spirits!
