my grand father was one of the last men to shoot some species of british birds before they became extinct, he used to have them in a very attractive glass case in the entrance to his hotel with a little name tag saying when they had become extinct in the uk and the date he shot them . he also shot buffalo ( I have the horns on my wall with some of his red indian items ) and various other animals heads elephant feet ect ect I dont see much difference between what he did and what people who buy their cod fish fingers from tesco are doing , except he lived in less enlightened times (victorian edwardian )and pulled the trigger himself .
