Donating Plasma

Well I am smoking a little and then I have to go donate plasma. It always makes me feel like I am selling my soul but, I need gas money so that I can work tomorrow and I really don't like borrowing money. My friends and I always joke about how whoever gets my plasma is going to get high as hell.

 

I'm not allowed to give blood.

 

why not? I can't donate blood either because it make me pass out. But I get my blood back when I donate plasma so I'm usually fine.

 

I never understood the donating plasma thing. What is plasma?

 

Drug history prevents me from giving.

 

How the fuck are you donating if you're getting paid for it? Just saying...

I'm going on my 50th donation this week.. I'm on a hep-b program with anti-bodies that reach the highest in my state. Which they pay me fairly for. I really hate the whole process anymore, but it's to hard to pass up.

Not to mention it's going to a good cause.

They don't care if there's THC in it? That kicks ass, I might have to look into that someday. I've always been afraid to donate blood because I smoke a lot of pot.

No matter what you say to questions about your drug history, sexual history, etc, they still test the blood before they give it to someone. So if it is not good, they will not take it.

 

As someone who donated blood every six weeks until I got chronic mono and am no longer allowed, I take offense to people who say they are donating their blood when they are actually selling it.
I'm not trying to be a bitch, there's just a lot of people who really do donate their blood and feel like crap every other month for a day because of it.

 

i try to donate some plasma twice a week..
idk, i like the 25 you get.. but its something to do, and its really not bad..

 

If that was the case, these centers would be completly empty. Over the past year I've went, most ARE drinkers/druggies.. I pass by the one out here on the way to work, and there's lines @ the door before the place opens @ 7am.

As long you are healthy (blood pressure, pulse, temperature), & have no STD's you're good to go.

You can't sell your body fluids or parts under us laws...but you can get paid for your "time". You can't say you sold it, you GAVE the plasma or blood, and got paid for your time.

 

Sperm and egg donors get paid, too, but no one is outraged at calling that donation. Haha.
