Don Everly, older half of the Everly Brothers died on Saturday at his home in Nashville. He was 84 years old. Along with his brother Phil he was one of the early roll and roll stars having fifteen top hits from 1957 to 1962 outselling Elvis Presley and Rickie Nelson. They were known for flawless harmonies and driving guitars. They have been praised by Chuck Berry, Simon & Garfunkel, John Lennon, Paul McCarthy, Keith Richards, The Beach Boys, Neil Young, and many others. Don was a long time friend of Bob Dylan and Jimi Hendrix. They were in the first group to be inducted into the rock and Roll Hall of Fame along with Elvis Presley, Buddy Holly, Jerry Lee Lewis, James Brown; Chuck Berry, Sam Cooke, Ray Charles, Little Richard, and Fats Domino. Phil died in 2014.
