When ordering take-out from Domino's Pizza, DO NOT USE YOUR CREDIT CARD NUMBER. Domino's keeps credit card numbers ON FILE so that any of their staff have access to your number, just by typing your phone number into their computer system.

If you're going to order from them, PAY IN CASH or do not order from them at all.

I've been ordering from Domino's for over a year, and have started realizing that this is a problem in the last 4 months, where on more than one occasion I've caught them with keeping my credit card information saved in their computer system. I've emailed their head office today voicing this concern, cancelled my credit card and have ordered a new one, at the risk that someone may have my credit card number.

The reason why I'm concerned as much as I am over this sort of thing is that I've been victimed with both credit card fraud and identity theft, and this came from a similar situation than this. Trust me, this is not an easy thing to resolve.

If you're going to order take out or anything over the phone, I would suggest to you to (if possible) avoid handing out your credit card number over the phone and pay in cash whenever possible.

Dominos is not the only place that does it. Where I used to live Pizza Hut did the same thing. Their claim "its easier to do the transaction" bullshit. when having a reciept at any store anyway they are no longer allowed to have the entire number on there. it is illegal. but still some places do it. thank you for your warning. i will pass it on.

Should we start a chain email to warn everyone?

I spoke to a friend of mine, who lives in a different town than I do, and she said that she caught Domino's with also having her credit card on their file... so there are 2 Domino's locations that I know of that do the same thing.

I've already sent out an email to everyone that I know today in regards to this issue. But it'd be a good idea, I think. It's up to you.

Eh. Papa John's here in MD does too. We order online, saves time, and they charge us. We watch our finances very carefully and any shennanigans, we're on it.

A TON of companies do this. As long as you track your finances and stay alert for any unauthorized charges, what's the big deal?

domino's is just a bad company all the way 'round.
ever heard of Ave Maria University?
The founder (company is now sold, but it is Domino's funding) is active, very active in ultra right Catholic causes.

I remember back in the 90s when Domino's had a money-back guarantee if they didn't get the pizza to your place within 30 minutes. There were a rash of traffic accidents involving speeding Domino's trucks. One woman got hit by the Domino's truck and the manager came running out of the store to help. He told the driver of the truck to use his car so that maybe they still had a chance of getting the pizza there on time. :) The woman who got hit was steaming mad.

Johnny Carson even joked about it in a 'guess what this sound is' sketch. He played a tape of an engine starting up, the wheels burning rubber, a long screach, then a horrible crash. He said it was the Domino's Pizza delivery truck. :)

    Nice people at Domino's. :)

My mom went through a credit card scare 'cause she used hers at Winners and there was an alert went out 'cause their database got hacked or something to that effect.

One should always keep an eye on your credit card activity regardless.

I saw an article about Ave Maria recently - i forget whether it was in Utne Reader or Mother Jones.

The whole thing is just creepy.

I miss the old funny Heat Wave bag Domino's commercials, something or other about the competition having to drag a really long extension cord, to compete.

Domino's pizza I still think, is the best.

And oh BTW, I am ultra-conservative too.

Yeah, I can see the potential for problems with a 30-minute delivery guarantee. It's good that that is no more. Too many problems beyond their control. Traffic, aggressive driving, combo runs, slow previous combo-run customers, a rash of orders at similar times. But at least one good thing about it, it would probably be a hedge against the too-typical greedy corporation "downsizing" layoffs, just to make a quick buck at the long-term health of a company. You can't both make a few people do all the work of many people, and meet 30 minute deadlines.

Domino's keep your credit card numbers on file? Not back when I delivered for them. We didn't take credit cards then, or at least not in my area. I can guess why they might keep credit card numbers. Because the typical moron customer, how likely would it be that they state all 16 digits correctly each and every time, and it be understood over the phone line? We got some customers who would talk so softly, as if they were sissies or afraid of their voice or something. Now how can I hear in a noisy kitchen, some person who doesn't even know how to talk? And people who order delivery pizza, quite often are repeat customers. I really liked it when we got the newer computer system, because usually handwritten tags were unreadable, and addresses are hard to find. But with the computer system, I could go back and put in delivery instructions, after a run, so that next time, it would be easy to find. The next time they order under the same phone number, their delivery instructions just print out automatically, helping their pizza to get to them faster.

If the computer software has proper security, it should be able to hide most of the credit card digits, and if they offer ordering online, then nobody should see the credit card numbers at all?

It was sort of funny how customers write Domino's a check, and then add a dollar or 2 cash for a tip. Whenever they ask, I of course said they can write the tip into the check. We get the cash regardless, for once we pay for the pizzas, any remaining cash left over is ours, so our tip cash comes from other customers cash orders anyway. But never try to pay with a $50 or $100 bill. The best I could do for such customers, is tell them I could bring their change, in "an hour or two." Because we aren't allowed to carry that much change, I have to go back to the kitchen and "drop" their big bill, and come back on the tail end of another run in the same general direction. So no big bills or write a check.

I like that bumper sticker I saw at a gun show. "Warning. Driver only carries $20 worth of ammunition."

They must not do it where I live. I have to read it to them everytime with all it's dates and the security code off the back.

Granted I don't have any real credit cards, it's just a bank card visa that I use. I rarely have any cash on me.
