you got a dog? tell me about ur dog. family dog counts to.

For centuries the dog (canis familiaris) and man (homo sapiens) have shared a unique relationship, a relationship which spans the globe and defies all attempts at satisfactory scientific and archeological explanation. Clues to the puzzle are unearthed from time to time and indicate an vague outline to the dog's evolutionary past. Just as the exact evolutionary process of the dog is shrouded in mystery, so is the exact nature of the relationship between man and dog in the early days of domestication. Though the dog's primary role was probably untilitarian, strong bonds of affection were quickly forged, as proven by a fairly recent fossil find in Israel. Here, well-preserved remains dating back 12,000 years reveal the skeleton of a man with his hand resting protectively on the head of the dog lying closely by his side.

thats my dog, a year and a half old german australian shep. his name is keyote.
    (like peyote with a K)

hes a register's service animal and is a great road dog. has been all over with me. since 6 months hes been on the road traveling with me. Lived out a van for 6 months then hitch hiked for 6 more months hes coverd alot of ground.

also if you say "find the kong" he will find your weed. hes only been trained to find weed for a month now but he understands what it is. i have a normall tennisball and a tennis ball full of weed. when i say find the kong he finds the smell of greenbud. theres been a few times ive gotten him to search my pants pockets and find the bag of bud hidden but. most of all he just wants to play with his ball ya kno? but he can find green ;D aha

this is probably the most suitable dog for stoner lounge.

Yeah, we also have a german shepherd. He's one year now so he went to quite a change till now. He's only just fullgrown. Quite fun (first dog we had that brings sticks back :D ). I don't have pics of him on the computer but he looks like the stereotypical full blood german shepherd, mighty, ears up (only for a few months now) and he has quite a lot of energy since he's still pretty young. He's just really groovy :p

but i have to say, i hate german shephards. hate hate hate. neighbors had a couple when i was a kid and they were just too much. then i got arrested because of one - i'm totally over em. fuck that

i like pointers, hounds and labs better anyways :)

tinypic isn't loading. i'll try to get my dog on here

When they've not learned how to behave german shepherds can be pretty dreadful indeed. I think they're my favourite breed though.

That's a cool mix, you clearly see both breeds :) We used to have mainly mutts too, they had some labrador in them as well (don't know where they got it from though):

In her mom the labrador (black retriever) was more obvious, this one is half bordercollie (visiting neighbour dog). This was the best dog you could have, got 14 years old.

As you can see she had border collie ears but they hang like a labrador hehe.

Dat my love. She was a stray that showed up at my door on a rainy day. I gave her a porkchop b/c she was really skinny and thats all I had at the time and she just stayed. Then she became my best friend! She used to sleep in between my pillows and assist me on all my trips and adventures until my landlord found out that I had a dog and threatened to evict me. Now she stays with my BF parents whom have a bunch of wiener dogs. I think she feels special because she is the tallest. lol. I miss her being around all the time.

I also really like dogs. In particular, I like my dog.

She is very calm - she is very low maintenance, and just sort of lounges around until we go do something. But she gets to do lots of things.

I always take her fishing with me in the spring/fall/summer to chase bears away (she loves treeing them). In the winter she is an excellent ski-touring (backcountry skiing) dog - even though I once cut her leg to the bone with my ski and another time she went for a ride in an avalanche. She is an adequate bird-dog, although I mostly go after grouse where you don't need a dog.

She is also very good at backpacking (she carries her own food) and mountainbiking. When I was rock-climbing lots she was a pretty decent crag dog.

The funniest thing about her is that once every two or three months she'll go kill something, with the biggest thing being a miniature deer on the Queen Charlotte Islands.

She is also dumb as a rock in some ways. She has been skunked twice, and I've taken two dozen porcupine quills out of her with nothing but a leatherman and a friend to hold her down.

I could easily seei myself becoming a complete loner so long as I had a dog or two. Who needs people. Dogs are cuter and fuzzier anyway.

Agreed. They're much friendlier and less judgmental, also.

I've never paid for a dog... the very idea seems insane considering how many dogs get put down for lack of homes.

I've never met a bad dog... I've met dogs that were screwed up by owners that shouldn't have had them, but never one that couldn't be brought back... with the exception of ones that have suffered actual physical brain damage.

I love this dog even though he can be a stubborn asshole some times.
