In the latest edition of This America Life there was a segment on dogs being used by the US army in WW2 for various purposes such as carrying messages and acting as guards. What I did not know some dogs were sent on suicide missions into enemy lines with saddlebags of explosives, a timer and a detonator. Poor doggies! I WW1 Allied soldiers noted the bravery, loyalty and dedication of the German Shepherds used by the German Army. When it comes to war commemorations I think military dogs should not be forgotten.
i just remembered this story from earlier this year http://www.washingtonpost.com/world...d0f8f0-8f44-11e3-84e1-27626c5ef5fb_story.html
Ye, gods.......terrible.....sinful......how could they? You want to blow yourself up, go ahead...but don't use innocent victims.....and don't blow up innocent people, either. Makes me so angry.
We got rid of suicide dogs when we made remote control bombs on tracks buuuut they were really useless. =p
It's not much worse than training and using a dog to be a human helper sentenced to a life of guiding a blind person around...not allowed to be petted by anyone except the "master"
I guess I am lost as to what you mean here. If you went blind wouldn't you want a seeing eye dog to help you? I did not know that seeing eye dogs could not be petted by anyone else. I think if a seeing eye dog is treated well and loves the person they are helping, what is wrong with that? Some dogs need jobs to do that do not hurt them. I know german shepherds do. SOme dogs need a sense of purpose. Now, if any animal is being abused, that is a no no.
