I'm sorry. English is not my mother tongue. It should have been written 'their'. And I mean ... pointless testings, for example, to see if a rocket could prevent head on collision..things like that.
That e.g does seem rather pointless. But would need to read up on it first. I don't think "rocket to prevent head on collision" will be me many Google results. I would appreciate a link or something. I'm intrigued now.
Here's a link: http://dsc.discovery.com/videos/smash-lab-runaway-trailer.html And almost everything they did was pointless...there are more out there but these guys are the worst, on TV at least. This sketch from British comedy "The fast show" explains British opinion on American scientists https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qsPb8e7USqI
If we pulled our military out of every country that we are in and if we pulled all of our money out of all the international programs we support, within 6 months of doing that the world be at our door begging us to protect them and support them. Our image is bad because we collectively as a country have told the world we are bad. There is no other country in the world willing to send soldiers to die or money to support third world countries like the USA. We are the world's last hope, if we fail the world is lost.
It was pointless. But it was more for entertainment purposes. Many countries have pointless shows like that. Now, if it was Nasa doing that, that would be different. The fast show clip was funny. I remember that one. I wouldn't say it was what the British thought, though. That was for entertainment value, too.
Actually it's every country but the US. Most peacekeeping soldiers around the world are not American. In fact: And the EU looks after peacekeeping in the Balkans In fact apparently you missed last month when the new Japan PM had to resign after failing to reach an agreement with the US to move the US marine base off Okinawa. Your attitude is exactly why the world looks more positively to the rise of communist China than it does to the United States.
Are you making a distinction between combat troops fighting in arenas such as Afghanistan...and peacekeeping troops that aren't there to necessarily engage if fighting? If so, that is one of the reasons I didn't mention UN multi-national troops and what they do. But, it's still a little myopic to say what larryelkhart said.
Shades of Gray It's really easy making people out to be the same because of the way things are in the world Bad:- *When people from the USA consider everyone outside the states a savage. *The Serial Killer List on wiki is another example. It's quite extensive when it comes to the USA. Most people in Pakistan have this opinion that in the states, One side of the street is infested with prositutes, pimps and junkies while on the other side, Mad Hatchet killers and Zodiacs are waiting in the shadows. *The amount of video-game based violence is pretty WTF. Many of the people I know are extremely mystified about how video games are making people kill :S (though this maybe a bit unfair because it's present in UK and China as well but more incidents are originating from the USA) *The war is a pretty big BAD. I'm against the war but am completely supporting the Troops. I come from a military family and we believe that the troops should be respected and honored because of their sacrifices. *Microsoft and NO XBL for Pakistan is a pretty irritating Good:- *Their stubbornness when it comes to the "war on terror". It's decent when people in the west are fighting back against the same disease that plagues our society. Atleast we're not alone. *How receptive many Americans are to the traditions of a country. *Their curiosity
The U.S. has a surprisingly good reputation considering the heinous crimes that it commits around the world. Little is actually known about the true details of what the U.S. actually does. If you interview most people around the world, very few, <1% will know that the U.S. dropped more bombs on Viet Nam than all of world war 2 combined. An interview conducted recently in China (so called enemy) revealed that 85% of Chinese thought favourably of the USA, whereas only 42% viewed China favourably. It's pretty obvious the hate is coming from the inside of the USA, not the outside. I talk to people from around the world, and rarely do people have anything negative to say about America, despite the violent, and vicious reality of American imperialism. I talk to lots of Muslims who also don't have very many negative things to say about America. I am surprised to hear many of these Muslims defending America, making general statements like "there are good and bad in every country", or "the people are nice, it's just the govt that's bad". In the rest of the world, many people still naively believe that America stands for freedom and democracy. The U.S. has a very bad habit of creating false propaganda against other countries that don't give it privileged business climates for U.S. corporations. For this reason, many Americans assume that other countries do the same, but this is not the case, and media propaganda terorism, seems to be uniquely western. You can actually investigate this for yourself. Just go to Al Jazeera's English site, and see how much negative stories you will find about America, probably not many.
What if you went to the non-english site? Also, when you type one long statement like that, without once using a line break, it causes a large portion of the people who would other wise read what you said, to skip over it...
I think Google Chrome has a translation tool for arabic as well. Might not give the most accurate translation but you could get the gist of it. Would be extremely grateful if someone could post a summary of what they find. Damn PTA has censored my net.
They're trying to save me from the "bad people" This is an assumption tbh but I think alot of Jihadist websites and anti-Islam websites are censored. There's nothing really "bad" about hip forums when compared to the sites i mentioned Edit:- Accidentally pressed post. I still don't understand why Al-Jazeera's censored. I get the news channel :S
