The sell blood to hospitals who then charge you (or your insurance) for it. Do you want to buy some personally?

Wouldn't surprise me at all. Probably selling it to companies like monsanto so they can, in the future, patent humans. So if you do anything against the companies policy they can bury you. They are already working on pigs, so any pig sold will be owned by them. Humans will not be far. Ask for your doctors paper work from the red cross and at the hospital so you can go home and burn it.
Of course they do. They are a non profit organization and preform blood draws at costs. Donating is free. However having paid professionals to draw blood, and transport it to hospitals isn't free. Neither is the small administrative costs to keep the red cross running. So they sell the blood at low prices to hospitals to stay in business. If you'd like to prevent this from happening, donate millions of dollars along with a couple pints of blood. The red cross can't do it's work with financing and donations don't cover their administrative fees. (Hiring paramedics, administrators, cooling facilities, transfers to hospitals) They don't profit off it. As a 501 C3 you can see how all their money is spent within 5 minutes of googling.
