By Christian beliefs being gay is a sin yes, but personally, though I am a Christian, I think that if there is an all powerful God capable of making literaly everything in existance, I think He would be a bit less petty than being so against gay people. So no, I don't think it is a sin to be gay, but if you follow the bible word for word then yes, they believe it is a sin.

Why are you asking btw? Anyway I don't think (even if you are a christian) you can follow the bible word for word, there's weird things in the bible like not being able to have your clothes made out more than one material and things like that.

keep in mind that having something being labeled as a "sin" in the bible is not the same thing as saying that god hates people who commit sin. Also, the bible says that God forgives people of their sins not that he hates them because of the sin.

Bible talk aside...........everybody needs to think for themselves. I am not a religious person but I do believe in God. Rather than sitting around wondering if God hates people (and if I should hate them too) I think, feel and decide for myself. I am definately not sitting here thinking "What would Jesus do?" I have a mind of my own.

It's clear that Christianity is against homosexuality, and it does toss it together with murderers and rapists.

Homosexuals are born gay from the womb. So if it's a sin aligned with murder, then not allowing that person to fulfill who they are as a person can be a horrible conundrum for the person.

The holy grail against this is that homosexuality is not genetic, and therefore it can be avoided without much sacrifice, and maybe they would have a point if this were true. What is overlooked is that it does not HAVE to require a gene for them to be born gay. Actually, it's as simple as testosterone levels in the mothers womb; Basically, the more males the mother has the more likely that mother will reject a male and try to feminize it because males generate an immune response in the mother. Since Gay males have female typical brain and body features, they will have an attraction as a woman would have an attraction.

Reminds me of that one family guy episode where they go to the past and try to change the part in the Bible that says homosexuality is a sin, then maybe everything would have been much better off between believers and non believers. Then you have the liberal Christians that seek to rationalize everything, but by doing this they have to change the religion to try to fit their hopes for the religion and to make it something that it wasn't originally... so they only end up creating ANOTHER religion while calling it true Christianity; it is logically incoherent, dishonest, and desperate. At least the fundamentalists make more logical sense.
