Does God exist? If he does, why did he make me the way I am. I mean, I'm proud of it and all, but sometimes I really wish I could just be normal.
let us all pray to the invisible man in the sky...and he wants money...he can create the earth in seven days but for some reason...he just cant handle money...what a crock of shit...and if you break one of his ten rules he will send you to eternal damnation where you will burn and suffer for all of time....but he loves you...
God is a personal thing. what do you think about God existing? and why would you be proud of what God created in you if you just wish to be "normal"?
And if there is (which I doubt) an omniscient force behind the creation and gradual sinking into eternal slumber of everything might be more concerning then making sure everyone feels comfortable at all times. If there is a god, I hope it's too big for me to matter too much.
Religion is man's tool and the church is his invention. The concept of God gets reshaped to fit man's agenda. People throw away their entire lives worshipping a false idol created for purposes other that spiritual enlightenment.
Religion..is the opium for the people(Nietschze) folks are killed every day..for the sake of religion.. Tiger
People die every day for a lot of reasons. However, religion also does a lot of good, such as giving food to the poor, old, and sick, building homes in third world countries, and so on. The church has been involved in quelling conflicts in nations where violence was imminent, such as Pope John Paul II dealing with certain conflicts in eastern Europe. The demonization of religion, just like the deomnization of gays, blacks, or any other groups of people, is do to the ignorance of those criticizing it. The fact that many of you are speaking in pseudo intellectualism (religion is man's tool and the church is his invention) and repeating each other shows to me that most of you are just repeating what others have told you, without actually learning for yourselves. I think you should think long and hard about whether what you are posting is true or just the collective opinions of those on this forum next time you reply.
Some religion based organizations do alot of good I agree and I feel that it's important for people to have a system of beliefs but I've observed religious narrow-mindedness with my own eyes... sat in a pew while a minister called everything from homosexuality to those who dared worship via another faith to be of the devil and sure paths to destruction. I don't demonize religion- many of its followers do a good enough job of that themselves. It is the group of parishioners who allow church hierarchy to dictate how they think and orchestrate their opinions who speak out of ignorance. They becomed conditioned not to think for themselves and follow like sheep. So do tell me that I'm just repeating what I've heard and insinuate that the conclusions I've typed are hollow analysis based on something someone else said. You know jack shit about me and are just about as qualified to judge me as the door to door preacher who knocked on my door some years back, ready with his bible marked at a verse he supposed would apply to my life. Go and blindly follow a creed if that gives you a sense of fulfillment and satisfaction but please don't make the mistake of judging something or someone you know little about. One of the biggest turn-offs for me concerning the most fervent of believers is the supposition that the path to glory and salvation is the narrow and restrictive one defined by the rules spelled out by a particular denomination. Does God really keep score? Is there a singular omniscient being so bent on micro-managing each of our lives that the starving populations in third world countries get neglected? Oh wait, they are Muslims so they're going to burn for eternity anyway, why waste any effort on a lost cause! I propose that heaven and hell aren't somewhere way out there but are both right here. Heaven was created here on earth for all to enjoy, whatever path he or she chooses and it is people who are going all out to transform it into hell. Referring to us as "pseudo-intellectuals" seems calculated to further your own system of beliefs by assailing the credibility of those who think differently without providing any credible rebuttal of what they claim. You choose to make a blanket judgment about a perceived lack of background-- to suggest that you are the lone reasoning voice in the debate which is pretty much the tactics of religious and right wing zealots. Derailing the debate as you've attempted isn't going to win you any converts.
