Does anyone work retail?

Do you like it? How much of a discount do you get there? I think I am going to quit my second bar/rstaurant job and work one retail job, one bartending/waitressing gig, so I can easily work in the days at retail and nights at bar/food. So fab, what a great mix.

And in other news, I went driving for my first time today on my own, LOVED IT. Drove my sister to highschool this afternoon in the beamer, and then did some banking. Cruised past a zexy construction worker who is currently just down the street ...

 

In addition, I like this new green smiley guy. So cheeky.

I use to work retail forever ago, it was different... I needed a part-time job for some extra money and thought I'd give retail a spin.. And to be honest it really depends where you work at and what department.. I worked at JC Pennys (you laugh you die ) in the childrens department.. Customers are so awful but yet you had to laugh at them.. It was great though because I find greatness and joy in everything but again it just depends where you choose to work and so forth... I got a 25 percent discount of stuff there which was pretty nice...

which is shit.. considering some stuff in my store costs up to like... $3000 ...

and customers in my area... spend money without even hesitating..
they're like... i'll take this.. and this... and this, oh and i guess i could use this, and this...

and i'm like... okay... that'll be $4000 please......
in my head i'm like... holy fuck.. lol.

i hesitate buying shit for $20... let alone $4000... lol.

 

Aww! Shroomy at JC Penny, thats freaking adorable. I can see you being totally sweet there, but also havin alot of stories . The general public = comedy central.

yeah, i work retail, at TJ Maxx- and fucking hate it.
the benefits are a pretty flexible schedule, and working with some really cool people (and some really chill managers)...but i only get a 10% discount, and the customers are the worst people in the world, most of the time. Its also shit pay, and for every awesome person I work with, there's at least three assholes. it could be worst, but it could be a hell of a lot better.

unfortunately, i haven't yet mastered being unemployed.

 

lol apparently it is.... i think stuff there are fuckin weird and stupid..... i wouldn't ever buy any of it myself.. i'd rather just go to ikea or something... its much cheaper there.

actually, if i tell you, you'd be able to find me real quickly. theres only like 2 of these stores in TO. and i work at both locations. lol... so i can't have hipforumers lurking around my job. lol.

 

Retail, I guess it would be cool if you found an area of retail you like. You know like if your into clothing, electronics, (Victoria Secrets) hint hint.

Heheh! I want to work at Jacob Lingerie. Their underwear, SO CUTE, all lacy and french and dainty looking. And I shop there anyway.

shroomland: I actually love working around those crazy uber rich people, it is so funny. When I was helping the chef of my bistro cater to this hospital foundation event, I was shmoozing with a couple of older ladies, asking where they found their coach bags. They said there was this outlet in new york, and I said Ill have to make a trip down. (yah right )

yeah, rich people and their purses... .. like 50% of the customers that come to my store have like a little puppy... and some in their purses... lol dont they ever worry about them shitting in it?...

lol yeah, crazy rich people... i dont like making small talk with them though.. mostly cause i dont really know what the hell their talking about. lol.

Oh man, I remember working at MOA during the teenage years.

At one of the "gigs," I worked with these real cool white girls who thought they were black. Their words not mine. Yeaaahhh, it was right across from this sports store where homeboys hung out.

 

ive worked retail and customer service for like, 6 years now
it can really really really suck, or be not half bad. depends -a lot- on who you work with, and what you sell. also, if there are tasks to do regularly beyond selling stuff to peopel (ie at the video store im at, we can check in movies and stuff like that while its slowish, my last shoe job wed stand aroudn and feel stupid if it was slow, sucked)
warning, lots of politicking happens in retail jobs. but, it also happens lots in restauratn type jobs from what i hear, so if youre used to those its probably not that different

i think if i worked any retail job f/t id go insane. part time aint so bad. doing it every day over and over and over again would be nuuuuuts

 

i would like to work retail in a gun department! I dare the person to get lippy!

 

i work in a grocery store... Just started and i dont really know about the discounts yet. I never thought id actually like working.
