My house gets a local paper every thursday. I don't read others though. News papers in general have lost tons of business since the web came out and we don't pay. Although if i did read the newspaper id choose non computer. The news screens on all computers hurts my eyes.
I read the paper every day. There is a newspaper dispenser right outside of the building I work in, so I don't have to go out of my way to get one.
I heard some conspiracy nut on the radio while back saying that everyone dies within 45 days of there birthday, before or after the date. Look at it next time you read the obits. Its crazy how many people do!!!
i dont. i dont find them anymore reliable or trustworthy sources than some internet sources. they act in the same fashion to me
i agree with ya. The media is there for the public to be brainwashed. Its all an illusion. Sheep follow anything. I just read my local paper which thankfully is very small and its nothing like the big names out there.
I never really read the Miami Herald or the South Florida Sentinel, but I do go for the culture mags - Miami New Times is always entertaining and usually has 1 or 2 amazing articles per issue that most mainstream media overlooks.
I read the free ones that come once a week, but I don't subscribe to the daily local paper. I don't care to pay for extras like that when I can just turn on the radio or watch the 6pm news on the local tv station. The obits and flyers are online if I want to look through them.
WOW! You're right. Twenty-five percent of people do die within that particular 90 days in a year. There is no way that is just a coincidence.:sultan:
i sometimes read the campus paper when i'm on the shitter at school. i haven't bought a newspaper since i moved to this apartment and had no tv or internet for a week.
I used to buy a newspaper back on special occasions back in the day (like when I was stuck in an airport for instance), and I'd read the paper when my family had done with it, but I rarely bother these days. The internet is more to my tastes...
I haven't read the newspaper since we used to get the previous week's worth delivered to the high school for free. We'd proofread and edit them in English class. It was pretty friggin' sad how poorly edited those papers are here. I go to the websites, though, they seem to know the meaning of spell check.
If newspapers were interesting, ppl would keep them but they mostly throw them away...how dumb can u be to pay for sth pretending to be info and then throw away because its just crap
Yes, sometimes. Usually on weekends, over a nice cup of coffee ( before cartoons or after church ) :sunny: I guess it's a matter of habit. My dad is a journalist and he would always bring his newspapers home and sometimes made me read what he wrote, even though I was just a kid I remember with how much respect and awe and wonder a 7ish year old me would turn the pages. And I would always wash my hands before reading, of course. I liked holding in my hands what someone has created, especially because I knew how much effort it took. Anyways, that was years ago, but still....My father seemed so proud of what he did and he really was very good at it, it kind of grew on me. I guess it's kind of pointless now, with all the internet news portals and everything, but to me it's not even about the news, it's more about the whole ritual, if that makes sense. Edit: Also, I do not give a fuck if it's mass media propaganda. Maybe one day I will be smart and informed enough to care, but that day hasn't come yet, thank God.
the most heart touching thing Ive ever read about newspapers, Piaf- I almost feel sorry for what I wrote before lol
