That I have successfully made brilliant rock remixes of the Tellitubby theme song and the Sesame Street theme song?
I love it when people do that Best one I've heard was when my mates band did a punk version of the banana splits theme
LOL!! I bet that was great fun and kick ass Trickster's Child! *goes off humming a punk version in her head*
Not until I get to hear them How did you go about doing them anyway? How did you get your hands on the original vocal tracks for the two songs? Or did you just use the other instruments that you recorded to mask the original instruments so that only the vocal lines really stood out over your new material? Did you do any clever editing of the original tracks to change meanings of the words or anything? And did you maniuplate the sounds of the vocals at all in order to make them suit the rock genre better? I imagine you would have a lot of fun doing that. Would love to hear the result. I had fun doing a remix of sorts once. Does anyone remember when older versions of windows used to come with two midi files, one called Passport and one called Canyon? They were both really cheesy and naff and funny to listen to. So one day I sat down with my keyboard synth and midi sequencer and did an Ambient Drum'n'Bass remix of passport, just using the opening slap bass riff and then transformed a few motifs from the rest of the midi file and just added some other sounds and gave it a whole new feel. I'll attach the midi file of it, as well as the original one which I've just managed to find by searching on google. I've changed the extentions to zip in order for them to be acceptable attachments - change the extentions back to .mid when you download them
Just to take this thing a bit further, here's my remix as an mp3. Borrowed a mate's computer and put it through his rather nice sound sets. http://host.picturewizard.com/2005-5/317901/PassportAmbientRemix.mp3
I just figured out the melody lines and chords on guitar, and backed them with bass and drums off my keyboard. Both are instrumental versions.
Ah so they're cover versions rather than remixes. Pretty fun thing to do though. I did a swing arrangement of Sesame Street with my school jazz band which the director (also my fag teacher) had done. It was class - I think his arrangements probably inspired me more than any of the great composers (no disrespect to any of them of course).
