amen. He is Lord. Praise Jesus. He got me off of pot, coke, X, shrooms, drinking, cigs, and suicide.. I love Jesus. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iueQU3sC2m8&feature=fvw
"The whole foundation of Christianity is based on the idea that intellectualism is the work of the Devil. Remember the apple on the tree? Okay, it was the Tree of Knowledge. "You eat this apple, you're going to be as smart as God. We can't have that." - Frank Zappa No. I was unsure if I believed in Christ when I was a Christian (as I was raised to be); but as soon as I actually read the Bible - I knew for sure. If Yahweh was real; I'd hate his fucking guts. Jesus, seems like a much better role model overall - but the dude still supports slavery.
The "foundation of Christianity" is NOT the idea that intellectualism is the work the devil. The foundation of Christianity is "For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God" Therefore since "God so loved the world that He sent His one and only begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life" something like that. Without Christ's sacrifice we are all screwed. I am guilty, you are guilty, and no one can stand before GOD and say otherwise. The punishment of sin is death. But with Christ is life eternal. I am sure you were raised "Christian" and I am sure that you actually read the Bible, but I am also sure that you NEVER HAD A REAL RELATIONSHIP WITH JESUS CHRIST. Give it a shot bro. bless you.
No, I like Zappa's interpretation better. Why is eating from the Tree of Knowledge a sin if knowledge isn't bad? I did have a relationship with God. I prayed every night, I thanked him when I survived my house fire, I wrote about how he saved me from that house fire in a school report. However, it was a very one sided relationship, seeing how he doesn't exist and all comfort I got from him was created in my own mind - so I just learned to comfort myself with rational thought and a positive realism. Don't assume so much. I've told you before; Jesus is what works for you - and that's great that you've found something; but pushing your views on to other people suggests that it doesn't work nearly as good as you say. It suggests that you have far less faith than you say, and that you need others to believe to validate your faith. You don't see me trying to convert you.
another one of these threads? granted, this is just a poll, and not as blunt an attempt at converting people, but these threads get old after a few. and im sure a few was five or six threads ago. another thing- why is there not a "not sure" or "apathetic" option? i'd think that's who would be most open to 'finding Christ'. maybe evangelism isn't your thing...you don't seem to be doing that well at it, honestly. "Don't assume so much. Why do otherwise seemingly intelligent people not get this the first time around?
Duck, I actually remember you being on here when I use to post on here when I smoked and what not.. Do you think that using drugs has opened your mind up to the demonic realm therefore hindering your relationship with God? I know it did with me.. The saying that Jesus works for me and that you can just do your thing, Oh how I wish that was true.. but with verses like "JESUS CHRIST is the weay, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except thru Him." and actually seeing demons manifest in people therefore knowing satan is real.. how could I continue on without warning others? How could I face people and God and say I never led any one to the LOVE of Christ Jesus?
all of your arguments are based on perspective and refusal to regard such as anything other than absolute fact. i'm done with this thread, before i get a headache.
I agree that as an American Christian I may have false presuppositions, could you pray for me in the name of Jesus Christ that I would see past those?
I stopped being a Christian before I started smoking "If your own full brother, or your son or daughter, or your beloved wife, or you intimate friend, entices you secretly to serve other gods, whom you and your fathers have not known, gods of any other nations, near at hand or far away, from one end of the earth to the other: do not yield to him or listen to him, nor look with pity upon him, to spare or shield him, but kill him. (Deuteronomy 13:7-12 NAB)" Any living non-believers in your family? "Anyone arrogant enough to reject the verdict of the judge or of the priest who represents the LORD your God must be put to death. Such evil must be purged from Israel. (Deuteronomy 17:12 NLT)" Any living people you know that has disobeyed a priest? "Cursed be he who does the Lords work remissly, cursed he who holds back his sword from blood. (Jeremiah 48:10 NAB)" And don't dare try to say that the Old Testament doesn't count: "Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. (Matthew 5:17 NIV)" You aren't supposed to warn others - you are supposed to kill them.
I actually also believe I turned my back on Christ before I smoked and used, but I believe that the turning my back on Him and using drugs went hand in hand and also that when I got sober I came to Him.. not saying that that is the case for all.. but I have heard lots of testimonies that were like that.. There's a guy named Brian "Head" Welch who was the guitarist from Korn and He like started going to church and prayed the special little sinners prayer but kept doing meth, but like had a heart change even when He was on meth, but finally quit and is like a full-time evangelistic singer/songwriter.. I guess my point is that I should not categorize every ones testimony just like mine, but using drugs is often times a sign of rebellion towards God and getting sober is often times a sign of repentance.. Good points, and I'm glad you are studied, can you give me a little while to compose an answer? Also, before I do that I want to say that, debating with you might not do any good because 1. I am not a theologian by any means and 2. what you really need is to feel the powerful presence of the Holy Spirit and God's love for you. Seriously, He just loves you, I don't even get it sometimes. to be continued..
Neither am I. Reading the Bible once straight through and sitting through years of sermons is a rather mediocre training all and all. No, I am quite spiritually sound at the moment; and am quite loved, as well. I don't think debating with you will do any good either; but I certainly can try to get you to leave others be.
What is spiritual sound to you mean? Dude I'm just not going to leave this be unless I feel the Lord telling me to drop it.. I'm just here to love you guys and tell you what I've seen I mean dude, I know you probably don't believe in God or satan right now, but let me give you an example: If you saw a mass murderer who had tricked a bunch of people to come out to hang out at his house in the woods for "supper" and he promised them a bunch of stuff and all these people were going off to get slaughtered, you wouldn't warn them even if they made fun of you? by the way, I'm not stalling and I did not forget about your question(not saying you're accusing me of that, but just so you know). I am consulting a friend about it because I want to give you a really good answer.. but I will say this.. millions of people have studied the Bible ALOT more thoroughly than me or you and I'm sure they have seen the same thing you have and they still believe, so I think there is a piece to the puzzle you're missing on this one.
