his question is really about your patience.

If you're coming up to the Don't Walk signal at traffic lights, and there are already other people standing waiting to cross (and one would presume these people have already pushed the button), will you usually push the button anyway?

Sometimes...and I will also just go ahead and cross while people are still waiting, if there is a chance to, makes me feel like a rebel.

I'm a chronic button-pusher. Crosswalks, elevators, doorbells... lol you name it I push it! Even if other people are standing there, I like to push the button. That way, if it changes after I pushed it, somehow I feel like I've accomplished something. It's like I can turn to the other people and say "you pushed it and it ignored you...then I pushed it and it changed..." like I'm some sort of button-goddess or something. What I really enjoy though is repeatedly pushing the button over and over and over again...

I always get irritated when I see people at crosswalks pounding on the buttons. You know, the lights are on either a sensor or a timer, so pushing the button 9000 times, isn't going to make the WALK sign come any faster.

I get irritated in Seattle seeing everyone standing on the side of the road wating to cross when there isn't a car in sight.....people are so traffic law abiding there

I also hate when you are timing your cross there to miss the one car thats coming, and the car stops causing this moment of confusion that makes the whole process take longer than it should.

Yeah it's true, in Seattle people actually wait for the sign to say WALK. The problem is that in downtown, all of the east/west facing streets are extremely short and steep so you never know if a car is going to come barreling down at some ungodly rate.

I apologize for our courtesy. Remember too that generally people here are really laid back and take everything as it comes, so no one is really in a rush to get anywhere. I'd probably have a heart attack on the streets of New York city from all the frantic energy.

    Ditto.
And also, yes, a friend of mine got a 200 shekel ticket in Israel of all places for jay-walking. In ISRAEL! NO ONE follows the rules there.
