I haven't taken one in well over 10 years, and I don't plan on taking one ever again. Every year around this time, and becoming earlier each year, it never fails to amaze me how strong the push is for everyone to get a flu shot, even though they are more or less useless in doing what they're said to do, since the flu vaccines are made months before the flu season arrives, and they don't even know which of the various strains are going to be most affecting people months down the road. Where I work, if you refuse to take the flu shot, you have to provide a reason why. That pisses me off, because nobody should have to provide a personal reason for not wanting to put something toxic in their body. My fear is that in the not too distant future, the flu shot will be required by law, in the name of "public health and safety." Things are fast moving in that direction, and once the new health care system is fully enacted, the government is going to have an increased say in the care you receive from doctors and hospitals.
No, I don't. I got it once about 5 years ago but decided it wasn't worth it to get it again. As far as being required by law I think that is highly unlikely.
I do as my immune system is compromised. I would even if it was not. You should have to take it if you are employed in a seniors residence as many of those will have compromised immune systems. The amount of people who die from the flu and complications from getting it is staggering. Very few people die from the inoculations.
i tend to skip a year and get it every second year ive never been sick on years when i did get it....years without are generally 50/50
never had it. not something i worry much about and if i did catch the flu, i'd just tell it to GTFO of my body and i'd be fine
I got the flu every year when I was a kid. I got the flu shot up until I as 18. Then I moved out of my parents and haven't got one since then, nor have I had the flu since then. I didn't stop for any conspiracy reasons. Just cause I was a lazy 18 year old. Now I'm just going with what seems to be working.
For seniors and those with compromised immune systems I guess it could be looked at as a precaution, but it's true they are only inoculating for (presumably) the latest known mutation from last years flu. I've never had a flu shot, but when I do get a bad flu I always think what a horrible death it would be... ah hell, sometimes when you have the flu you wish you were dead anyway right? lol :sick2:

I miss the 80s. Not the part about getting the flu and puking my brains out for a week, but everyone was tougher back then it seems like. My mom would get me a bunch of videos to watch (on the beta, haha) and try to get me to drink fluids and eat, coca cola to settle the stomach. Trashcan next to the bed. And that was that.
I haven't gotten it for about 10 years either. I haven't gotten the flu, ironically, since the last time I got the flu shot. I never stick foreign substances in my body if I don't know exactly what they are. Not even fucking Tylenol.
Yes. I have only got them last 5-7 years, I believe i started getting them when I moved to the US. I dont recall them being a big deal in the UK.... could be wrong.
since Im sick now, Ill not get sick again for at least another year. pointless to get the flu shot., they tell me I should because I have MS but I dont..
Ah, I always thought it was a different strain of the flu. So in other words the flu is basically just a head cold with the body aches? Man. Norovirus is horrible. I read the wiki page on it, and it brought back memories of feeling like I was dying and being in severe physical pain from puking so much.
You also get a fever from the flu, and the symptoms come on rapidly. Weakness, headache, chills. HIGH fever. When I got the flu and it felt like death for a whole week. No fun.
I've had that and yeah it sucks, but doesn't really stop me. I've worked through the flu a bunch of times. It's when I'm throwing up, like serious exorcist type shit. And on the toilet while holding a trashcan. At that point I'm done. Fortunately I haven't been sick like that in years. At least 15. Damn you rat, I'm hunting you down if I get sick now.
I'm not going to jump on the "vaccines don't work" bandwagon because of one article from one guy. You can pretty much get one study or one guy arguing just about any point. Doesn't mean that he's wrong, but the consensus is to vaccinate. Maybe all of the other doctors are part of a big conspiracy, but I don't believe in resorting to that so quickly. My guess is that there is a lot to criticize about the flu vax. They can only guess which strain is going to be prevalent, for one. Also, if it's a live attenuated vaccine, you can get a mild form of the flu from it if your immunity is weak.
