I guess what that guy is mainly saying is that if you have an iPAD that you use for the internet then you should consider getting a less expensive cell phone over the more expensive ones. So you don't have to necessarily go with a flip phone.

Why have an Ipad and a flip phone, when you could just have a smart phone?

    Ipads are junk.

Honestly I don't really see why he can't just rock his Razor and not write an article about it

IMO flip phones are better PHONES than touchscreen "phones" but droids (and I guess iphones if you're so inclined) are funner to play around with, web, video, games, and all that crap. Touchscreen phones are jacks of all trades, masters of none type things but with pocket convenience. It all depends what your individual needs are. Personally I'd get a flip PHONE for "phone use" and a cheap secondhand driod just as a wifi pocket pastime device.

Smartphones are the reason I've never bought a computer. I don't see the need.

They already have those, iPads and Android tablets with a 4G radio transceiver. That shits just too much tho, I already have a Windows 8 smartphone so the standard WiFi model suits me fine.

I know. The idea is to move on to one. I have a smartphone and tablet, too.

It's kinda hard to have ONE device for everything. It may be able to do it, but making it better suited for one purpose may make it worse for another. I suppose the goal is for EVERY device to do ALL things.

Now that it is possible it seems a need to use internet on the run. It used to be a luxury to just have it at home :p

I have a laptop, tablet, smart phone, and iPod. I don't "need" any of them. I want them, so I have them.

I don't need one. They are too big to carry compared to some of the small nokias of around 2007, which I still have. Texting, camera, alarm clock and reminder ap is all I need

What about the smaller tablets like the iPad mini and others? Were you referring to those as being too big?

Well, the functionality of an android phablet is likely to be the same as a smartphone - it's just a bit bigger. I'm ok with the limitations of an android smartphone, so won't be to upset about the same limitations of an android phablet. It is, essentially, a netbook without the keyboard, plus the ability to make calls, isn't it?

When the price of something like a NOKIA LUMIA 1520 comes down in price - I will get one of those.

I don't particulary need all the functions (i.e MS Word / Flash ) while I'm 'out and about'.

The point is, imho, It's just nice to have a large screen with the ability to make calls, too.

    One device rather than two.

The funcionality is the same but one is larger in dimensions, larger screen is better suited for some tasks where the smaller size and weight is more suitable for the "phone" function. If I wanna take my tablet somewhere I'd have to put it in my backpack, and it may not be convenient to always wear a backpack every where I go...this is what I was trying to get at. Yea, we're both saying the same thing :D
Go back to around 2004-05is era and you will find the smallest phones. I hope you have small fingers to press the keys lol

    I agree with the article.

Smart phones are too small to read on. They're great for texting and calling, and you can put them in your pocket, but that's about it.

Tablets are more like portable newspapers with games, email and skype. I probably wouldn't want to hold them up to my face, but really, smartphones are pretty nasty since you've been rubbing your fingers all over them anyways.
