    I do. I like winning.

I go to a casino about once a year, and I play poker with a group of guys about once a week. If I lived in Vegas, I'm sure I'd have a huge problem.

I'm a sucker for the classical vices.

I enjoy playing poker with friends, but other than that no. I've been to a casino twice as an adult. Both times I was on psychedelics and didn't play anything but the penny slots.

I've also never bought a lottery ticket of any kind. People usually look at me weird when I say that.

not particularly, i never have money spare to do it, and when i do it seems kind of a boring thing to do with it.

i used to like to put money on the dogs or the horses for my dad, he'd let me pick based on which one had the best name/ looked meanest, then he let me keep the winnings. never very much cos he's only let me put like a quid on each time, but it was cool.

maybe i only enjoy gambling with other peoples money :D

No, never was a fan of the games that seemed to mainly depend on luck.

Yes, I like to gamble. Both of my homes are less than a 5 minute drive from multiple casinos, coincidentally. I probably only go to the casino 5 times a year or so. I got married in Vegas. I've been to Vegas more than a dozen times. I'm going to New Orleans in June, and I'm excited to check out their casinos. We may also make a side trip to Biloxi. I never gamble with money I don't intend to lose. And when I do lose, I usually had a good time in doing so, so it's not that bad.

Eta: I love betting on the ponies. We decided on New Orleans, but our second choice was LA, so we could re-visit Hollywood Park.

I don't buy powerballs and rarely scratch offs. I don't participate in human sports bets, ie fantasy football because I know little.

Properly handling risk/uncertainty is a worthwhile activity. Otherwise, we'd all put our money in a hole in the ground. Professional genuine gambling might be a real job for some.

However, people who own casinos know the facts of gambling. My job is a "gamble" on occasion, but one with the odds in my favour, and fully quantified.

Gambling on "instinct" when the odds clearly aren't in your favour, I find bizarre.

As for shit like our "National Lottery", that repulses me for numerous reasons.

1stly, I didn't like where the money was going. These "good causes" weren't exactly good. Basically giving upper class (often inbred!) morons who'd never done a days work, even more millions.

2nd, this might sound "revolutionary".. or unusual. But if someone really wants millions of pounds, why don't they just set about doing it? I just find it really saddening that someone spends money every week, thinking and hoping "I wish I could win the lotttery and do xyz". I feel like they're choosing to torture themselves, in the way children sometimes do. It just seems bizarre...

I won 1200 bucks on Keno once. Did the wise thing and wired 1000 home. I like home games-poker and such. Buying lottery tickets is a self imposed tax on fools. When they get over 100 mil--I become a fool.

No, I don't buy lottery tickets either.

Sometimes I buy a scratch Bingo ticket for fun. But that's pretty rare. I don't remember the last time I did that.

At a sports function about a month or so ago. I had NO clue what I was doing, all I knew was it was this bit green board and you put a $5, $10, $20 whatever... note on either the big picture of a crown, heart, clover etc and hope you win something. I got $25 out of it, so pleased with myself.

I used to be a big gambler. Not joking here, I had days where I won and lost up to $50,000 playing slots online, $1k a spin. Also lost many thousands of $$ playing online blackjack.
I'm glad I quit that habit. Even though the high of winning $25k on a spin is amazing, I just can't stomach the losing part.

Didn't u play poker properly for a while? Did u feel u had the chance of longterm profit in that? In that as a professional, u can choose to play amateurs and therefore profit?

I knew a professional poker player, altho didn't like him. His method was to seek out wealthy people who played poker but just saw it as fun, and were happy to lose a little money. Basically he was a hustler. He then moved into stockbrokerage... and did a similar thing. I assume he's inside now. Or met an early end..

Yeah I did play poker for a while and there is longterm profit in it if you are selective, know the maths and use good bankroll management.
However, a few years ago the level of play was a lot worse than nowadays. Everyone has programs running on the side now to maximize optimal play.
I find it that most money is to be made in non-hold'em games, because people are just learning the less popular games and don't really know optimal play yet.
