It was reported on FOX News today that Jesus was white. The statement was made after a discussion was started over comments made by a young girl that Santa should not always be white. Fox News declared that Santa is white and that this should never be changed.

(St Nicholas came from a region of Greece that is now part of Turkey. A forensic study requested by the Vatican shows that he was not white.)

Of course all the paintings of Jesus portray him as a bearded white man. (As Stephen Colbert said----just look at all his pictures.)

SO what do you think----Was Jesus a white man?

Studies have been made. Everyone be polite and nice to anyone who has the wrong answer in their opinion...

Yeah I think he's white, but mostly because his sex is chaste, and it is Christmas. Now
Sex ~= Chastity is not a fact, but is Fact in the natural world. But we are now on a plain against the concrete universal facts of nature. Assuming that the son of God exists in Nature, i.e. as a natural phenomenon which I profess, the abstract reality of nature the facts should not Be for what they were assumed by the written words of history. Sex would need to be factually true in Super-nature, but there are no supernatural facts to furnish the factual relation against such a concrete universal. The concrete particular is instead necessary to seek out the connected Fact for this.

We must find the chaste facts of the particular concreteness. As white facts they are sexual counter-factual relations. As black facts they are supernatural unrelated trivia. Let us rejoice at laughing at Wittgenstein on the internet for his supernatural refusal of Nature substituted by the natural observation against Russel.

I read that a lot of european commoners didn't even view Jesus as a jew in the 19th century (so probably before as well :p) because apparently it was rarely pointed out clearly to them. This can also explain why most historical pictures of Jesus are very caucasian looking. The makers didn't thought of an ethnic person from Israƫl in the first place but of Jesus the son of 'their' God. Hence why Jesus looks like he generally does.

    :p

It would only make sense to picture him as an ethnic jew imo. So not black and not white.

Jesus was a Jew as stated by Asmodean so to call him white would be akin to calling a modern Arab white. If one would do that then yes jesus was milky

If the prophetic references are to believed, than Jesus was most likely a short, unattractive, traditionally Sementic looking man.

    Isaiah 53:1,2;

1 Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the LORD revealed?
2 For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him.

That's the King James version, but all translations say the same thing, there was nothing physically outstanding about Jesus and probably the opposite.

But there is certainly no way he looked as popularly portrayed.

Whereas I think the question of this thread is somewhat silly, our narrative is constructed of symbols. It doesn't matter what the symbol for truth is, but it always appears in a form that is meaningful to you or one you recognize.

It's not a silly question; you can look at history for the answer too. In history there are two kinds of evidence: archaeological and legendary cultural. Maybe the news on Fox wanted to debunk the two kinds of empirical evidence for ...

The question should be a silly one. But at one level it is humorous, at another level it is serious.

But like you say, I have a copy of the communist manifesto that was printed in China---I bought it many years ago at an underground bookstore because I thought it was so funny that the picture of Karl Marx on the second page is obviously Chinese looking.

I think silly in the respect that it asks to examine the frame instead of the picture.

Just as there are no supernatural facts to furnish a mother as the long forgotten consort of Yahweh, Astoreth. Wait a minute... You don't suppose Mary could be the incarnate...?

But seriously---in nature we see the multiplicity of life.

the bible never describes what Jesus looks like. He was probably a tan color, just like others in the region..now he is a spirit being so he has no color

Well, Mary was Jewish, but his father was supposedly the Holy Spirit, and every American redneck knows that God and the Holy Spirit look exactly like the people at their church, except for having more facial hair, so Jesus should have many of those physical characteristics.

But...a little more seriously, I'd love to see more paintings in circulation depicting Jesus with a lot more of the obvious, stereotypical Hebrew racial traits, like a big, bushy Jew-fro and a giant nose. It would be so much fun watching the ultraconservatives freak out! :D We might learn something about what their values and priorities really are.

If Joseph was using the withdrawal method of birth control, then Jesus probably looked a lot like him.

Or maybe again there were roofies involved.

Fox News said the facts are what they are and that you cannot change the facts to fit some political agenda. And of course the facts are that both Santa Claus and Jesus were white... Gosh, how can you argue with that????

:D I know they didn't have those back then, but they may have had access to opium or mushrooms or hemp. Ancient drugs might be an interesting topic for investigation sometime.

Do those people's reflections show up in mirrors?

Several years ago I had a service call at a church to work on a copier. The church was African American/Black (or whatever else you deem appropriate), and on the office wall was a rendition of The Last Supper with all of the subjects black. As I had never seen such a rendition, it struck me as odd and funny.

The London Times, about 7 or 8 years ago, reported quite a bit on a great study in England that claimed that The anointed one, referred to the fact he was anointed in hemp oil. There is plenty of evidence that shows that marijuana use goes way back, as does mushrooms. Shamans in Europe used marijuana in certain ceremonies long before Jesus was born. Indo-European peoples used hemp and mushrooms, and that is in the lineage of Jesus---where there is a Hittite mother somewhere back in time---was it Abraham?

In Egypt, the blue lotus was used as a hallucinogen, and it was especially connected with erotica and was considered an aphrodisiac. Such accounts are well documented from the translations of heiroglyphics.

    Good one!
