do we get dumber with age?

im 20 now, and i was just looking thru some old word files i have on my computer that i wrote when i was 16-18. kind of made me sad. i cant imagine myself writing like that ever again. back then i was depressed, smoking weed all the time, generally very rebellious and deep thinking. now, im much more comfortable with my life and dont feel the need to write up rants about random philosophies. i couldnt if i tried. i only hope that i internalized some sort of lesson from all that, so that its not all gone to waste


any thoughts?

i dont think that really has to do with getting dumber with age I think its more along the lines of changing....

 

geez, 20 and already content with life...thats a worlds record.

I think its all about keeping your edge. I've gone through sluggish periods and then come back out of it, I think that can keep happening through your whole life.

 

Well i dont know... I couldn't do half the math I was able to do in school now.. Ive been out of Highschool for 5 years now... If you made me write a paper it would be pathetic... I think I would have to spend some time trying and practicing before I could write a decent paper or do a hard math problem again.. I think its just Im out of practice... I bet you you sat there trying It would all come back

 

it all depends on what you call smart. I'll forget a lot of the stuff I learn in school as time goes by, but I will learn more important life lessons along the way.

 

I definately couldnt do simple algebra anymore. but i write papers for people sometimes. I kinda enjoy it and they pay me. I think i have definately got stupider with age.
