during my stay in East Africa the bottom of my dreads fell out, not too much length and im not terribly worried, im thinking its probably just split ends. but would my dreads benefit some conditioning? Im not talking about bottled conditioner, but some kind of plant or oil. I currently do the deep clean once a month and wash with residue free soap every week.
Wouldn't hurt. I condition mine with concentrated Aloe juice from holland and barratt. Works very well. But i'd say the actual Aloe works better.
If your locks are mature ( 2 years or more) you can try using jojoba oil, or shea butter. Just lightly apply to your dry dreads and leave in in for a day before rinsing.
I'd use the coconut oil, a lil bit goes a long way and you can just rub it in well to the dreads. I use aloe but don't feel like it conditions them that well, but sure you could use both!
You can try this: Pour 4 cups of boiling water over 2 tablespoons of sage or fennel. Cover and steep 30 minutes. Strain and use as a hair rinse. It will condition & moisturize without detangling your locks.
