Absolutely. I remember this, I happened to be watching it the night that episode aired for the first time. Although I must say that it sounds more like mushrooms than DMT DMT is a much higher pitch!
It's not just the sound. It's the sudden push to DMT Space, the change from cartoon to 3D (similar to our world's reality vs. DMT reality), the weirdness of the things he sees, the after effects of his body flying through air and the sudden drop to 'reality'. Also, when the trip ends he says: ''No words could describe what I just experienced''(Or something similar). Just saying they did a really nice job to visualize the undescribable.
