The most common forms of DMT from plants are probably Mimosa Hostilis (Jurema), Psychotria Viridis (Chacruna), Phalaris Aquatica (specifically AQ1), Phalaris Arundinacea, Yopo and Virola. There are thousands of others: http://deoxy.org/trypfaq.htm .

Ayahuasca, as you may know is the combination of natural forms of DMT and Hamala Alkaloids (from Syrian Rue, or Banisteriopsis Caapi). Conversely, oral adminstration of DMT along with MAOis from unnatural sources is usually refered to as "Pharmahuasca".

Making an Ayahuasca brew (without the Harmala Alkaloids), is also the first step in a full chemical extraction of DMT. This is taking the DMT disolved in solution

Mimosa Hostilis (0.57% N,N-DMT) is the most popular one to buy from shops online. DMT is in the root bark, and in especially high concentrations in the inner root bark. It is the most concentrated source of DMT of any plant (to the best of our knowledge). It is commonly used in Ayahuasca. Many people complain of becoming nauseated or throwing up after drinking Ayahuasca. If you first filter the Mimosa Hostilis through a cloth filter, and then through a coffee filter and/or let it sit for long enough that the fibers settle to the bottom, little or no nausea is experienced. As long as the liquid is clear (a clear purple with no particles floating around) you should be ok.

Psychotria Viridis (N,N-DMT) is another one of the traditional sources of DMT for the Ayahuasca brew. DMT is found in it's leaves, and thus is more readily renewable from the same source. However, the ammount of DMT found in the leaves varies greatly. The ammount of DMT even changes depending on the time of day the leaves are taken from the tree. Hard to grow from seed, if you are interested in growing try buying clones online.

Phalaris Aquatica (5-MeO-DMT, N,N-DMT, Bufotenine, Gramine) is a common grass found in Australia. Very easy to grow (since it's a grass). Likes alot of water. Tryptamine content is boosted by stressing the plant. There is no shortage of research on what causes phalaris grasses' to have alkaloid contents, because a high alkaloid content in the grasses causes sickness in sheep. This species is not as invasive as Phalaris Arundinacea, in addition this strain has much higher ammount of 5-MeO-DMT, and contains more of other compounds such as Bufotenine and Gramine (both toxic). Usually Bufotenine and Gramine should not be a problem because they are a relatively low percent of the alkaloids in the plant. Stressing the plant only increases DMT alkaloids, and has little or no effect on "toxic" alkaloids. Stressing is caused by shading, clipping, and dehydration. Do not worry about shading if you are growing in doors. If you are considering ordering Phalaris Aquatica, look into the AQ1 strain (most potent but hardest to grow), or make sure the grass is not a commercial low alkaloid strain designed for lawns and pastures.

Phalaris Arundinacea (primarily N,N-DMT, also 5-MeO-DMT, Bufotenine, NMT, Gramine) See Phalaris Aquatica. Arundinacea has more N,N-DMT and less of the other "toxic" alkaloids than Aquatica. Some internet sources suggest it only contains N,N-DMT. This strain is not as potent as Aquatica, because of it's low 5-MeO-DMT content. 5-MeO-DMT is four times as potent (dosage) as N,N-DMT, so more a potent Arundinacea extract is needed than Aquatica extract. Arundinacea will have an easier time taking over your lawn than Aquatica. [IMG]

    Phalaris Brachystachys
(N,N-DMT) is a strain of phalaris that supposedly only contains N,N-DMT. Uncommon, but worth mentioning.

Alkaloids of Phalaris Grasses can be extracted simply using a wheat grass juicer. The juice is simply left out to dry and the hard solid that forms is potent enough to smoke. It is recommended that you take MAOis (Harmala Alkaloids - Syrian Rue / Banisteriopsis Caapi) before smoking to potentify and elongate the trip. Of course, the juice can also be simply taken orally if used with MAOis. It is better to take the MAOi before you drink the DMT mixture.

    Yopo
and Virola are both seeds with high concentrations of 5-MeO-DMT. Traditionally made into a powder and snorted by natives. (maybe I'll write more on them later...)

Note: DMT is used here to describe both N,N-DMT and 5-MeO-DMT.

Does anybody have any experience of information about growing these or other DMT containing plants?

What are some other commonly used sources of DMT from plants (Desmanthus Illinoensis, Desmanthus Leptolobus, Anadenanthera Colubrina, Anadenanthera Peregrina, Acacia Obtusifolia, Acacia Phlebophylla)?

Bufo Alavarius and related toads have glands that contain Bufotenine and 5-MeO-DMT. Infamously made fun of in family guy: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Let%27s_Go_to_the_Hop

i have my p. viridis plant right next to me, trying to keep it going through this rather chilly s. texas weather. got the s.p. inside too. good sacred plants.... I suggest anyone interested should get live specimens. Take care of them, and they will take care of you
(though "stressing" the cacti may benefit you more ;) )

    P. Viridis is suppose to be very hard to grow. Needs a lot of humidity (like a greenhouse).

I've thought about growing San Pedro, it grow pretty fast (for a cactus), a foot per year. That's about a dose or two every year (per cactus): not bad, not great.

ok well i just saw this thread and thought that it should get a bump up......its pretty interesting, maybe even worth stickying...

also SWIM was wondering if acetone could be used instead of ethanol or water when extracting DMT from any of the above plants?

Great!! I think it is very useful Information of DMT of plant source. I have some idea about this. You can extract the DMT from Mimosa plants and Chacruna plants. Thanks
