I found this really easy method for making DMT. What I am concerned about is the rinsing step with the ammonia/distilled water. Would acetone or something else be a better choice here? Also anything else that anyone sees wrong with this method, I would appreciate the feedback. here it is: How to easily make DMT: ======================= Break 1-Pound of Mimosa Hostilis rootbark into 2" pieces and grind it all up in a glass-topped blender, a little at a time. ------------------------------------ Polar Extraction: Premix in an empty 1-Gallon plastic jug: 1-Quart White Vinegar & 3-Quarts Water. Put the ground up Mimosa in a 3-Liter crockpot, then fill it with the water-vinegar solution. Stir well and turn it on "high". After 2 hours, remove the crockpot ceramic liner, hold the lid on slightly offset, and pour off most of the liquid into a 1-gallon wide-mouthed glass or stainless container. Add the remaining water-vinegar solution to the crockpot again. Stir well and turn it on "high". After 2 hours, remove the crockpot ceramic liner, hold the lid on slightly offset, and pour off all of the liquid into the same container again. Discard the rootbark fiber and save the two combined extractions in the 1-gallon container. Allow the vegetable particles in the extraction in the 1-gallon container to settle to the bottom overnight. Then pour off the liquid into an empty 1-Gallon glass wine jug, being careful not to pour off any of the vegetable sludge at the bottom. Discard the sludge and keep the contents of the wine jug. ------------------------------------ Basification: Premix in advance a solution of: 5 Tablespoons (63grams) of Sodium Hydroxide ("Red Devil" lye) with 1-Pint of WARM Water. Stir well. Slowly add this solution to the wine jug, then cap the jug. Gently tilt the wine jug back and forth for 1 full minute to mix the contents. ------------------------------------ Nonpolar Extraction: Add 250ml of (Ace Hardware)VM&P Naptha to the wine jug. Add exactly enough warm water to the jug to raise the liquid level to an inch below the top, then cap the jug. Gently tilt the wine jug slowly back and forth for 5 full minutes to mix the contents. Allow the jug to sit undisturbed on a table for at least 4 hours. There should now be two layers visible in the jug, a lower dark one and a smaller clear one on top filling the neck of the jug. Use a glass turkey baster to suck up the top clear layer into a pint mason jar. Be careful not to suck up any of the lower brown/black layer into the mason jar. ------------------------------------- Freeze-precipitation/wash: place the sealed mason jar in a FREEZER for 3 days to precipitate the crystals. Prepare a filter setup by placing a funnel into a quart mason jar and putting a small coffee filter paper into the funnel. Shake the naptha in the mason jar strongly to stir up all the crystals at the bottom and quickly pour while still very cold into the funnel for filtering. Impure yellow-white DMT crystals will be seen on the coffee filter paper. Allow the crystals to completely dry out on the filter paper in the funnel. Premix a wash solution by mixing equal parts of Distilled Water and NON-SOAPY clear Ammonium Hydroxide(Ace Hardware Janitorial Strength Ammonia) into a pint container. Slowly pour 100ml of the wash solution over the crystals (still in the filter paper) to wash them. Remove the filter paper from the funnel, spread it out flat and allow the crystals to COMPLETELY dry out. You will now have 2-1/2 grams of white crystal DMT. At least 50 strong doses. Mix it with some parsley and smoke a little in your favorite pipe! SWIM (someone who is not me) used this technique and said it was ridiculously simple once he had done his research. He expected it to be much more difficult, however this procedure makes it simple and very fast, and VERY PURE. Smoke it til you burst, says SWIM. It is most definetly worth the effort.
IMHO: Yuck! Way too complex and holy shit will you loose major yield if you are foolish enough to seriously consider washing your product with ammonia! Who's tek is this? They don't know what they are doing. Or they do, but they have completely forgotten that you want to maximize yield and you should KIS (keep it simple). Seriously, man, here's a basic variation on Noman's STB (straight to base) tek http://www.hipforums.com/newforums/showthread.php?t=398828&f=457 If followed correctly, it should yield, clean, white crystals. If for any reason you feel you must "wash" your product, please do a formal SC (Sodium Carbonate) wash, NOT ammonia (real easy - PM me for specifics if you want) and/or a Heptane recrystallization - you will be amazed at how well this works to get rid of gunk and whiten up your final product. http://www.hipforums.com/newforums/showthread.php?t=399207&f=457 Good luck. Where can I find sodium carbonate?? or another cleansing agent besides online? because I am getting sick of having to go online to find things that were on every shelf 10 years ago. Thanks spice.
oh wait, but why do you not have to cook it. I mean how to I go from cooking this stuff down for hours to not at all. I am doing the freeze-thaw method to break it down prior, but again- no cooking down the bark at all???
Sodium carbonate is also known as Arm & Hammer Super Washing Soda. i got mine in USA at CVS pharmacy. i recommend buying pre-powdered bark - many vendors sell that way. You don't want to hear how many blenders i have ruined, . . . heavy duty good ones too. Many people like to use and believe in A/B (acid/base) tek's, but i honestly believe this is based on old-think. It is not necessary for MHRB - the aqueus basification accomplishes the same thing i believe. You see, the old-think was that you needed to break the (plant) cells apart and de-fat them and that you needed and acid to accomplish this. i have tried complex, multi-day A/B teks and i do not get a better yield than the simpler STB (straight to base) tek i like to use. Also, this is kitchen chemistry involving extremely volatile (flammable/explosive) solvents. Frankly, why play with fire if you don't have to? Keep it as safe and simple as possible. hey thanks again. I already blended my whole lb. because it seemed like an opportune time to have that awful noise going on for hours because nobody was around. I didn't know they sold it already pulverized! wheres that? My Hamilton Beach seems to have held up just fine tho. I am now just waiting for the 'red hot devil lye' I had to get online since there are no available retailers in Florida(shitty). Once fed ex get here with the product I ordered a week ago I will be ready for my first jump into 'hyperspace'.
You can also get food grade lye from soap or specialty food stores online. It might been less likely to have contamination from some industrial lye making process. I have always done A/B just because that's what I know. It seems like it must make things a little cleaner since you get rid of 99% of the plant solids before you extract with the solvent. I've definitely never gone so far as to defat too, which is another step beyond the tek you posted. (That is necessary when extracting from some grasses and other stuff though, I think.) I have a sad story about the ammonia wash that I don't even want to talk about....but I would say don't bother with it. I have heard of washing with very cold distilled water too....but after my ammonia incident, I just don't want to wash ever again. It's fine without it unless you get some really dirty pulls, which probably indicates some other problem. The Marsofold (your posted tek) originally used mason jars, but switched to flat bottom baking pans. I think that's not a bad modification since it makes it much easier to scrape off anything that doesn't go into the coffee filter. So, it might be worth altering that part of Spicy Cats extraction. I'm not sure though....maybe the pain of using the big flat pans is worse than trying to scrape out the inside of a jar. (The weirdest thing about marsofold is that it only mentions one pull and doesn't mention pouring the naptha through a coffee filter. Which are both crazy. You should definitely do 4 pulls and will get some good stuff on the fourth. And, the best, whitest crystals are usually the ones that get trapped in the filter when you pour off the naptha. What's left stuck to the pan is more likely to be yellowish.)
do u think the sodium carbonate wash is necessary if I am yielding yellow? I am opting out of the re-x. The guy who told me about dmt said it was yellow orangish.. so I figured my yellow stuff is looking cool and all, but if it is that impure do I have to wash it??-and would this decrease my yield?
Difficult to say without a GC/MS . . . it's probably fine, "full spectrum" spice, mostly N, N, with a few other plant alkaloids. i'd probably go ahead and try a little dose. i have had some great yellow spice trips . . . wow, so my first couple of experiences were tonight a few hours ago and just now about 5 mins ago. As far as I can tell my yellow crystals taste great. The 1st hit I dropped a very tiny amount in a little oil burner pipe ($4!) and pulled I guess about half a lung full and I remember kind of getting cold feet and letting it out sooner than I wanted to because I could hear my own heartbeat!!! (I thought) Wow, definitely intense. I decided not to take a bigger dose tonight because I felt like it would for sure take control and trance me out, and with my female sitter obviously looking at me scared it just seems like a better idea to wait til tomorrow night and do it with my buddy whom I have tripped with before. I did try some with some green in a bong and it was a little heavy on the head and didn't hit me as hard, but was still pretty cool when I closed my eyes. I mean, I didn't know a white that bright existed, which is funny because I know my eyes are shut so I am not actually 'seeing' anything. Well all in all I think this was a huge success. I barely passed high school chemistry and I got what looks like at least 50 strong doses of yellowish white crystals. Whats more is that only used half of the lb of mimosa I have, so I can make more!!! I want to thank you very much spicey cat from showing me the light with this simpler stb. I did not wash the final product and it did not taste bad to me at all, although the smell from the exhale and the leftover smoke smells specifically like death and more specifically oldness somehow. I feel like I am on the verge of plugging into a vast network that I have been reaching for all my life, but I am scared shit-less, which also why I have to jump off. (I do mma too...) Well, next stop on the mind expander voyage: MESCALINE. Anybody know any really inexpensive/reliable san pedro suppliers?? :>\
