    Greetings!

SWIM has been on an interesting escapade with Salvia Divinorum. His first experience was rather intense and unexpected as most full-blown first-time experiences are. Reality warped. Welcomed to cartoon world. He was not in the same place. There's a whole lot of geometry he usually doesn't see.

Because of these kinds of experiences, most people he knows tend to react with fear and ultimately, displeasure. On the other hand, SWIM is a sensitive and highly interested, introspective person more interested in the serious matters regarding divination and mind expansion. For the past couple of days, he has been smoking low doses of Salvinorin A extract (40x). He has been intentionally avoiding full-blown experiences as an experiment. His results are as follows.

Each initial trip is very short. Since it is hard for SWIM to pack low-dose small bowls with such a high extract, the low-dose experiences still range from unnoticeable to moderate (with no experiences rocketing out of reality). The trips last him about 20-60 seconds, with a distinct up time. Then, for several more minutes the effects have mostly disappeared except for psychological fragments of the trip itself. Geometry still appears skewed, things are hilarious, and he might be a little disoriented and.

For SWIM, Salvia is entirely recreational and aids divination. This divination business is difficult to truly pin down and experience for SWIM. However, the two most definitive feelings of the act are increased insight (he can make better decisions because he finds more insight and can motivate himself to do good), and the subtle and indescribable ability to see patterns far more easily. These patterns he describes are mostly seen in nature, and ironically, psychedelic gifs and such. He can simply identify the space in between features of plants and more-easily detect the entire pattern that the plant has unfolded over its lifetime. Reminds me of unity.

Since he has smoked Salvia up to 5 times, at rather low doses, for the past week or so, he has been under a sort of light aura of the effects. Patterns are visible, and perhaps he feels more insight. Common cognitive functions, he argues, are by no means weakened, and if anything, enhanced.

TL;DR: SWIM smokes Salvia almost every three hours under very light doses, has not felt any negative side effects, can see patterns much more easily in nature, and feels a lot of peace from the light psychedelic state of mind.

Can anyone comment, reflect, or reinforce this experience?

SWIM insists that people try Salvia in this kind of careful, thought provoking way.

Does anyone think there are harms to this besides the problems with smoking itself?

SWIM feels that he is has found an awesome tool for spiritual goals and divination. He wants other people to as well!

    Thanks,
    Bwackwat

BTW, SWIM mentioned that Ganja potentiated the effects.

Well first off Welcome to HF! Second SWIM is not used here for future reference.

I'm finding a contradiction in what you are saying about Salvia being entirely recreational but used in divination. I'm not sure if you don't understand the term recreational or what because you go on to say it has been an awesome tool for spiritual goals and divination. If not, I'd appreciate some clarification there.

I've never smoked Salvia as regularly as you mention but I have had a fair amount of Salvia Divinorum trips. I have noted effects on short term memory persisting into the next day or two a couple times after exploring Salvia Divinorum. Not a significant impairment but if you have a job/classwork that involves attention to detail, it may be something to take into consideration.

Other than that the only harms I can see are within the trip, Salvia is extremely potent and motor impairment, hallucinations, and disorienting effects all have the potential to be negative effects but if you treat Salvia Divinorum with respect and pay attention to set and setting than you should be good there.

I had a Salvia trip one time... I still have lots left, but have not wanted to do it since. Very unlike anything else I have ever tried. It completely took me out of myself. I smoked a bowl in a glass pipe with the butane torch lighter... I remember the smell to be horrible... all I remember from the trip is sort of a merging with the curtain at my sliding door... like I was becoming part of it or something... and I had no idea how long I was out for, but came to on the floor, being unable to find my pipe for a couple days.

Anyone thinking of trying this substance, I recommend reading all you can about it first, and have a friend "babysit" while you are using. Oh... and probably finding a spot to sit down would be good so you don't fall and hit your head or something.

I'm starting to smoke 5x everyday, just a pinch though. I feel it is a great antidepressant, will continue my experiment...
