Is it really? Is there any proof that a “diverse” team or workplace more effective and efficient than one that isn’t diverse?
Eh I never really understood what they mean with this phrase. Strength in what context and how is it being measured and observed? I just think it's a management tactic to mentally prepare our youth for a less white future and to view that as a positive thing.
I don't think people should be selected for jobs based on diversity quotas, etc. That to me, is wrong. It should always be based on merit alone and who is most qualified, but unfortunately, racism does play a role in how some people hire, so they might purposely ''overlook'' a qualified candidate simply because of their ethnicity. And, that's also wrong.
If you fire a black person, they can sue you for racial discrimination. That is a clear motivation for employers to NOT hire black people.
My company goes on about diversity a lot I've just always figured it was one of those meaningless corporate phrases Like "synergy," "team building," "core values" etc I tune out 99% of corporate speak because it all sounds like bullshit to me
Regarding my last post... And I think it is perfectly acceptable for employers to do so. That is not hire black people if they dont want to because its a liability.
haha It can be. In part, they want to cover their asses in the event of a lawsuit. I'd like to think it's all purely altruistic but.....
Diversity can be beneficial when the situation demands a broad knowledge base. Then again I do tend to think about diversity in a more skill based way. Didn't even associate it with skin until I first watched sargon.
Women are also a liability for the same reason, but twice as worse because they can also sue the employer if they are sexually harassed at work even if the employer didnt do the harassing. And in todays climate all victims have to be believed supposedly.
Black people get fired just like anyone else if they do a shitty job. If an employer has a valid reason, then the lawsuit is worthless. When's the last time you've heard this happen? (Black people filing lawsuits for getting fired)
