I pride myself on never having watched this movie. I don't think you can call yourself a man if you have
I had never seen this movie until about a month ago because i thought it was just another lame dancing movie but it is really really good. I don't think any man should be ashamed to see this movie though.
I avoided it when it was at the theaters. But then I got the DVD (buy 2 and get 1 free), and I ended up liking it better than my first 2 choices. It's one of the better popular movies from the 1980s. Really cool soundtrack (Swayze wrote one of the songs that became a hit), and I really liked the female lead big time. She seemed both intelligent and cute. My favorite combo. Anyway, I was sad to learn (from the DVD extra features) that the lead actress decided to get a nose job, and it completely altered the way she looked in DIRTY DANCING. She looked like a completely different person. So the movie offers stopped coming. And this is sad. Plastic surgery can make (or break) a career. It ruined hers. And she deserved better. QP
It is a pity they did not get the hairstyles right for 1963. Jennifer Grey is the daughter of Joel Grey who played the MC in Cabaret. There was talk of a remake but so far they cannot find a male lead that they were offering $5M.
