if all else fails and you know they're not hungry, need changing, etc..etc, how do you soothe your baby? All i need to do is stick the hoover on and she stops screaming and most of the time it will send her to sleep
I hold them and sing to them, gently rocking back and forth. Works about 95% of the time. If that don't work I throw them in the stroller (not literally) and go for a walk, usually singing to them as we stroll. If that don't work, there's always the rubber mallet! (just kidding!)
well i have learned when aiden was just a baby if all else failed i would take him in the shower and and hold him against my bare chest while letting the water fall on his back that would always lul him to sleep. Or if it was raining i would take him outside in the rain and walk for a bit. with gabriel i really havent had the problem of him crying too much (then again aiden makes sure he has his sucky or is entertained) but usually the shower would help soothe him to sleep.
i hold landon up to my chest and rock him back and forth, lightly patting his butt and he'll stop crying 99% of the time. he also likes showers and taking little walks outside in the evening. he's definitely an outdoors baby.
Put them in the car seat and set it on top the washer. The vibration will put them to sleep. HHHHHHHHHHHHUUMMMM, I wonder if that will work with a five year old?????? Kathi
maybe a car ride with the five year may help or lots of outdoor activitys could help as well. now that aiden is 2 i have a real problem gettinghim to calm down for quiet time or bed. i usually give him an apple or something to chew on and that usually calms him down.
there is a method, its called the 5 s's swaddle- meaning to snugly wrap the baby in receiving blanket side- hold the baby on their side shushing- make a shhhhhhh sound in their ear swinging- a gentle rocking sucking- allowing the baby to suck on your finger this method should calm your baby within a few minutes, i doubt there is anything that works 100 percent of the time
