(Not directing this at you necessarily 4x4 ;)) but...

I fucking HATE the smell of diesel!

The exhaust fumes are the worst, and for some reason it seems a majority of diesel drivers think they need to leave the noisy stinkin' things idling forever when they start 'em in the morning and leaving them idling in front of the convenience stores and what-not instead of shutting them off like normal people. And don't give me any bullshit about glow plugs, using more gas to start it, or that it 'wears out the starter faster' ...

I think diesel engines should be outlawed except for commercial vehicles.

Ahh, that was a nice rant, thank you 4x4 guy! :)

Truly, Diesel engines are a marvel of physics, really an amazing invention...and with the addition of modern microprocessor controls can produce unrivaled torque and power. :2thumbsup:

Yes, especially early in the morning.
Reminds me of industry and a few jobs that I've worked.

I am lucky...am away from all of the traffic and noise here. Just hear the faraway sound of a train going by every few hours.......and that is pretty romantic sound. I do have to smell pugs that need to go outside for their morning business. They can really stink up this place quickly...but once outside, nothing but fresh air....

I like the smell of a well tuned pre-emissions gasoline engine.

Now they all have catalytic converters and smell like rotten eggs or whatever

i love the smell of diesel locomotives on the railroad. especially combined with the smell of creosoted ties. if you add to that the smell of pine forests the railroad runs through in the mountains, those are the combination of smells that i grew up with as home.
