the reason we think of pirates as having eyepatches is not because they were prone to eye injury (or because eye-gouging was a common punishment, as some believe.) actually, it's because skirmishers boarding an enemy vessel would have to fight both above and below decks, where it was almost pitch black. boarders would cover one eye with a patch, board the enemy ship, fight, go below decks for more fighting, and simply move the patch to their other eye. instant night-vision!

The way we live our lives today would be absolutely foreign to anyone in history. Most of the things that define our way of life (cars, computers, TV, movies, zippers, refrigerators, etc.) didn't exist a hundred years ago.

    EYE LOVE EYES!!!

-Your eyes are the most complex organs you possess except for your brain

-The giant squid possesses the largest eyeballs on the planet; they are about the size of a large watermelon

-Your Eyes contribute towards roughly 85% of your total knowledge

-The eye is the only part of the human body that can function at 100% ability at any moment, day or night, without rest

-The average person blinks 12 times per minute - about 10,000 blinks in an average day

-There are microscopic creatures lurking in your eyelashes at this very moment

-The human eye can detect about 10 million color hues, but cannot see ultraviolet or infrared light.

-Tears are meant to protect your eyes. They contain natural antibiotics, they prevent the eye from drying out, and they contain certain fats that reduce the evaporation of tears

-Colour blindness is 10 times more common in males than females

-The space between your eyebrows is called the Glabella

-Most Caucasian babies are born with blue or gray eyes. Eyes usually change to their permanent color by the age of three

-At night, cats can see about seven times better than humans can

-Red and Green are the most commonly confused colours among colour blind people

-Brown is a dominant eye color, while blue, green, hazel, gray and all colors are considered recessive colors. That is why brown is more common than all other eye colors

-The study of the iris is called iridology

-Colorblindness affects about 7% of males but less than 1% of females

-Cuttlefish are the only animals in the world with w-shaped pupils. Goats have rectangular pupils

-Human eyes are not the most highly evolved. The eyes of the mantis shrimp have four times as many colour receptors as humans, some of which can see ultraviolet

-Eagles, like all birds, have color vision. An eagle's eye is almost as large as a human's, but its sharpness is at least four times that of a person with perfect vision.

computers cannot perform subtraction, addition is the only arithmetic they are capable of. subtraction in binary is performed by 2's compliment addition. similar to the addition of a negative number. signed and unsigned integers dont really exist either, only TRUE and FALSE.

computer systems consist of a hierarchy of abstractions which are themselves abstraction of abstractions. this makes things more complicated, but less tedious.
