Did FDR Prolong The Depression?

    That could well be. Many of the early labor organizers were full-fledged socialists (including those in, of all places, the now-red Kansas), and while FDR did institute token gestures of socialism, that's about all they were. Kennedy and Johnson were more in touch through the influence of Michael Harrington, but the surge in SDS during the 60's, along with the obsessions about Cuba and vietnam, shows that they didn't go far enough either. They all tried to work within the capitalist system, which is inherently corrupt.

    Yeah, but all those tugboats have one source telling them which way to go with that giant aircraft carrier.

    Maybe Dub couldn't single handedly fuck us all up, but when you've got friends in high places (business, government, and so on) controlling everything, it's ridiculous to believe that they couldn't pull off such a thing.

    I’ve heard that point made in Econ Class, but many of those same people argue that FDR should have waited for self-corrections of the Market and in the long run the market will stabilize and out perform any "New Deal program"

    But those people don't seem to realize that we are all dead in the long run
