M Night Shyamalan makes really good movies, but he also makes his fair share of flops... And when they're bad, not only do they leave us disappointed... but also feeling like we've wasted part of our lives. That's right, when there bad they are just plain awful. Going into the theater I was confident that this would make up for Lady In The Water... It didn't. So the premise of Devil is a familiar one... The Devil taking human form. The movie itself kind of sets itself up for disappointment because it revolves around people stuck in an elevator. Four strangers are stuck in an elevator, the lights start flickering and people start dying (but not in a creative way)... Despite the set being very limited to a security room and the elevator and it's shaft, it moves along at a pretty quick pace. It was the dialouge that quickly turned this movie into a cringe worthy canidate for the Razzies. Everything is extremely predictable and the ending turns into a diplorable religious morality tale.
Wow, thanx for the heads up. I had seen the trailers and wasn't so impressed that it was a must see, but I thot I might pick it up as a second movie. As it is, I have very little time off for maybe three weeks, (If they don't cut me loose from jury duty) so only get one movie max a week. Today I saw Easy A and it was really enjoyable.
I gave up on his "work" I dont even call it work anymore, I dont see it in my eyes as work but boredom. Im glad I didnt see it it looked like a basic horror movie but probably with some weird uninteresting twist that he usually does. The only movie I enjoyed of his was The Village.. then I watch the Lady in the Water and gave up hope on him.. never again will he get his pesona back.
i didnt think it was as bad as The Happening. it coulda been worse. i liked the casting and liked how outcomes to certain events seemed like that would really happen. and im glad Shymalan isn't trying to eek a twist in every movie anymore. one thing i really didnt like about the movie was the theme. i just didn't agree with it.
I didn't mind The Happening so much. A lot of people hated The Village too, but I think thats probably my favorite one. And your right, there is no crazy twist in this one really... But I think I would have given it a few more points if there was.
i dont know what happend to him, signs is one of my favorite movies. i also thought the village was an awesome flick. he used to be the king of twist endings and now hes the prince of shit.
