I bought a new guitar and it detunes quite quickly. What makes a guitar detune and is there any way I can make it not detune?

How much experience do you have with guitars?

If the strings are new, try stretching them. That is, fret the string at about the 12th fret, then pull on the section between there and the bridge. Where you would normally pick the strings. Then move down to the 9th, 7th, 5th,etc. I usually do it on each marked fret. If they're not new, I can't really help you.

Well, since they're new, yes stretch them like he said. If they are still going out of tune, get everything on the headstock checked out and a shop like the nut and tuning heads.
