Bob Marley died of a cancer in his foot, caused by a serious injury in a soccer match. He could have stopped the cancer spreading by having his foot amputated, but this was against his religious beliefs, therefore it spread and was fatal.

Nothing to do with cannibis whatsoever. Please research a little eh?

Wow, this just goes to show how fucked up our laws are. The majority votes to legalize marijuana and it passes yet state laws still have authority to arrest or charge you with possession of a substance that has just been deemed legal. Whats the point of even having local laws if they don't mean shit?

So you're saying soccer causes fatal foot cancer?

And (I still can't believe this) you're suggesting that smoking a harsh, resin filled smoke isn't carcinogenic?

    From Wiki:

In July 1977, Marley was found to have a wound on his right big toe, which he thought was from a football injury. The wound would not completely heal, and his toenail later fell off during a soccer game. It was then that the correct diagnosis was made. Marley actually had a form of skin cancer, malignant melanoma, which grew under his toenail.

    Also, from a medical doctor....

Exposing U.S. Navy personnel to strong sunlight may have saved them from dying from cancer, writes S. Peller. Sunlight treatments reduced malignant cancer growths 50% in experimental animals in Russia, writes A.P. Zabaluyeva. Repeated sunburning, not suntanning in itself, causes skin cancer, writes Dr. Michael Gray. Gray writes that skin cancer is caused in those who smoked tobacco and marijuana and expose themselves to sunlight. Marijuana contains adverse toxins that induce skin cells to mutate in the presence of sunlight, causing skin cancer. Skin cancer is caused in those who over consume coffee and tea, which contain toxic caffeine and tannic acid, and expose themselves to sunlight, write Dr. Becker and D. Alexander.

    Cannabinoids May Offer Cancer Hope

    November 3, 2005 - Jerusalem, Israel

Jerusalem, Israel: Cannabinoids have antiproliferative effects on cancer cells and may one day represent a new class of anti-cancer drugs, according to a scientific review published in the October issue of the journal Mini-Reviews in Medicinal Chemistry.

The administration of cannabinoids and endocannabinoids - particularly in larger concentrations - have been shown to inhibit cancer cell growth in rodents and in human cell lines, including the inhibition of lung carcinoma, glioma (brain tumors), lymphoma/leukemia, skin carcinoma, colorectal cancer, prostate cancer, and breast cancer, the review found. It noted that cannabinoids, including the non-psychotropic cannabinoid CBD (cannabidiol), appear particularly capable of killing glioma cells by causing apoptosis (programmed cell death). Glioma brain tumors are an aggressive, lethal form of brain cancer that is typically unresponsive to traditional cancer treatments.

"Cannabinoids possess some anticancer activity [and may] possibly represent a new class of anti-cancer drugs that retard cancer growth, inhibit angiogenesis (the formation of new blood vessels), and the metastatic spreading of cancer cells," the review concluded.

For more information, please contact Paul Armentano, NORML Senior Policy Analyst, at (202) 483-5500. Full text of the study, "Cannabinoids and cancer," appears in the October issue of Mini-Reviews in Medicinal Chemistry.

    The Revolution is happening!

"If you put a key infront of the caged, then they will reach!"-Me

In other words, even if they say state laws still apply, we see that legalization (the key) is in reach, so we are fighting now, I'm so happy! :)

Here is the catch, we really do have to fight for this.. Can't expect everyone else to hold their shit and accomplish what needs to be done. We all need to help in our own ways, or the legalization process may end in Denver.

    Emphasis on "may".

And sure, it might help, but if you take two steps forward and three back....

I completely accept that pot doesn't cause brain damage and that those monkey experiments years ago were flawed.

However, the latest research indicates that cannabis use and psychosis are linked.

We also know that whereas synthetic cannabinoids (e.g. not marijuana but lab-created chemicals) have brain generating and cancer-killing effects, that smoking anything that's on fire and producing smoke is bad for your lungs.
