Dental dams/tongue condoms for oral sex?

Ran some searches on the topic. The threads I found were quite old. Figured it was better to start a new one.

Looking for advice. In my 50's now. Spent 4 decades going down on my girlfriends and wives. Never used any type of barrier. No problem, right? Wrong. I was diagnosed with HPV-based throat cancer two years ago. Doctors couldn't say with any certainty what the cause was, but it's pretty easy to connect the dots.

I beat the disease (so far, anyway - fingers crossed). However, since the diagnosis, my wife and I are concerned about resuming the activity without some form of protection. I've tried covering the area with Saran wrap or a section of a latex-free glove, but my wife says the sensation is too muted.

I'm curious if anyone here has had success with dental dams or tongue condoms.
