Congressman Carlos Giménez. What does he say that's inaccurate?

You don't get to pretend it's the Democrats fault when the President of the United States just went to the Supreme Court so he can keep denying food to hungry children.

The Republican Senate needs sixty votes to pass the new funding bill and reopen the government. There are 53 Republican senators. The last vote resulted in 51 Republican, 2 Democratic, and 1 Independent vote for a total of 54 votes to pass a stopgap funding bill and end the shut down.
But 60 votes are required and they are short by 6 votes.

42 Democrats, 1 Republican, and 1 Independent opposed the bill.
1 Democrat and 1 Republican abstained.

The Republicans need 6 votes. If they persuade the 2 Republicans and 1 Independent to back the bill they are down to only needing 3 Democrats out of 43.

The Democrats, 1 Republican, and 1 Independent refuse to back the bill becasue it ends subsidies for the Affordable Care Act which will lead to about 24 million people either loosing healthcare or being forced to pay extravagant sums for that care.
They also want funds reinstated for heath care that were removed by Trump's "Big Beautiful Bill". The bill will cut funds to Medicare which the Congressional Budget Office states will result in causing 11.8 million people to lose their health insurance by 2034.

If I added it up correctly that means the Republicans want to cut health care funds to 34 million people.

The enhanced benefits were set to expire because the Republicans would not make them permanent because they think they cost too much, $350 billion over 10 years.....meanwhile they, and Trump, are proposing a tax cut for the rich amounting to $4.5 trillion dollars.

So the Democrats are saying the money is there if the rich are taxed fairly.
For example Elon Musk's Tesla which earned $2.3 billion in 2024 paid ...zero in Federal taxes.
Musk himself only has to paid SS taxes on the first $176,100 dollars he earns in any year.
He earns about $90 million per day or $3.75 million per hour.

The Republicans say, "Oh vote to end the shut down and then we'll fix all that," instead of saying let's fix all that before we vote.
"We'll fix health care latter on...we have a secret plan, which we can't revile at this time."
    Trust us (and Trump).

The Democrats for some strange reason don't believe them.

It sure as hell isn't the Democrat's shutdown.
Besides gutting health care to 34 million people to fund a $4.5 trillion dollar tax cut for the rich, the Republicans insist upon cutting food assistance to 40 million people; children, the elderly, the disabled, and eliminating the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program, which helps about 6 million poor people afford to heat their homes.
Rather than negotiate a more equitable bipartisan resolution that serves the interests of the majority of the American people instead of just the richest 1%, Republicans steadfastly refuse and simply went home.

If you or I walked off the job (or had an approval rating of 15%), we'd get fucking fired.
Something to contemplate as midterm elections draw nigh.

Musk and his like will receive Social Security benefits, why. Would like to see SS cut off for the wealthy recipients they do not need them.
