Here's an easy recipe for some delicious scones. The chocolate chips are actually replaceable with just about anything, so if you don't like chocolate you can try it with something like rasisins instead. Most of these ingredients you already have, and you can leave the lemon peel out if you'd like. 2 cups flour 2 tablespoons sugar 2 teaspoons baking powder 1/2 teaspoon baking soda 1/2 teaspoon salt finely grated peel of 1 lemon 1/2 cup of butter (one stick), cut into chunks 1/2 cup of chocolate chips 3/4 cup of buttermilk (if you have no buttermilk, combine 1 tbsp of vinegar and 1 cup of milk to make a substitute) additional buttermilk and sugar In a large bowl combine flour, sugar, baking powder and soda, salt, and lemon peel. Cut in butter until it resembles a coarse meal. Mix in chocolate chips, then stir in buttermilk with a fork. Gather into a ball and knead for about 2 minutes on lightly floured board. Roll or pat out until 3/4 inch thick. Cut into 3-inch triangles and place 1 inch apart on a greased baking sheet. Brush tops with buttermilk and then sprinkle with sugar. Bake in center of 425 oven for about 15 minutes until they're lightly browed. About 16 scones should come out of it. They're delicious and make a great munchie food.
