This question is based within an inherent understanding of human knowledge and the lack thereof. What is Deity? Is there a whole pantheon of gods and goddesses who control various parts of our existing universe? Is there a solitary higher being that we only understand through other men's experiences? Perhaps false gods from the "heavens" who have shaped the very fabric of our civilization? Are we the Deity?

Or perhaps these very Deities are the fabric of our entire reality? Do we understand what they are intrinsically and see beyond the Deity?

It could be that there are many gods and goddesses. But I would rather think that they don't really control their respective corners of the universe as much as they simply occupy their own space, and that, based on their commitment to their ideals, they may produce a sort of gravitational pull on other consciousnesses. And in that respect, they would be no different than us, since we do draw to ourselves that which is most like us.

With that in mind, perhaps all the hoopla about great evil beings or great beings of light is simply a case of a very negative or a very positive being having drawn enough beings of similar bent to his space and then becomes more, or more intense, because of the collective frequency of the minds of those around it.

OK, so I just made that up as I went along. But it could be true, or not. At least I took a shot!

There is nothing wrong with stumbling around searching for understanding. It is how we learn.

    We rang?

    Been chopping wood.

I don't think deity represents a goal but rather the peak of an oscillation just as baseness represents the valley of an oscillation. It is a spectral array.
Deity and devil are the particulate fallout or representation at different intervals of intensity of a ray of light.

The bible clearly states there is 1 God Jehovah who created everything

then there is his son Jesus who he sent to earth to deliver mankind cause of disobedience from the first human couple.

then there are the angels and demons.. right now, the angels minister to Jehovah everyday and do his will..

the demons and Satan are here on earth, ruling with our politicians making the earth a terrible place..

Oh you mean that book with the black cover? That sounds pretty authoritarian. I always wondered what was in it---maybe one day I will open it up...

(Sorry Lorna Doom----I just felt like doing some ribbing----no harm intended.)

All teasing aside, I know there are helping spirits all around. Christians see them as angels, but different ones have different traits, and attributes. They will appear to you in the way they think they can be of service to you, or the way that you can accept them, but from the oldest of times they have come to us as animals, and the things that animals teach us of how to be, are found in these helping spirits. A wolf spirit will help you in ways that wolves are. In an attempt to rationalize this crazy stuff----I would say they are tied into what the scientist Rupert Sheldrake referred to as biomorphic fields. It is through these biomorphic fields that animals of specific species share awareness. I would imagine that the human biomorphic field is basically our own collective unconscious---but since we are so alienated from our subconscious minds, we are all that more alienated from our collective unconscious.

15 years ago I would have thought such talk was complete craziness, or silly superstition. Today I walk the Red Road with a group of Lakota friends, along with friends of a few other tribes. And it has been shown to me over and over again. My son too has experienced it, and within recent months my wife has too. One example is that whenever it is getting close to Sun Dance time in the summer, I know if I am going to Sundance because I start seeing animals, out of the corner of my eye, but when I turn to look, they are not there. The first year I took my son to Sundance with me, as we drove along the same thing kept happening to him too. I never told him about it happening to me, so I was surprised when I found out he saw them too.

I have learned that everything is alive---all of creation. So yes, Poet Sappho is right:

Everything has a physical and nonphysical component about it. The physical is how it exists in this realm. The nonphysical is its spiritual form. The physical form is how the spiritual aspect manifests itself within the physical, and it represents only a small part of that spiritual form. From the very earliest of times, deity has appeared to us as a multiplicity. When man lived in a more vulnerable and weaker state, he was more connected to his subconscious, his connection to the spiritual. He innately knew how to go into spirit world, and seek help from the spirit helpers and other deities.

Civilization has largely done away with such things. We have created a cold dead rational world that is wholly dependent on conscious reality.

Ultimately though, all is alive----the universe itself is alive. This totality of being is god---so at the deepest level it is all one thing. All that is inanimate in our physical world is still a manifestation of the living God that is absolute being. This inanimate substance is the building blocks that our individual spirits and the spirits of all others shape into the physical reality around us. Therefore all things are sacred.

But I don't feel that we need to give up our individual essence, as much of Eastern philosophy believes as the path to happiness. We are here to experience, and we are given our individuality to achieve that. If anything we are here to develop our individuality----to become fully individuated as Jung would say----and, for example, Jesus was an ideal example of the fully individuated person, according to Jung.

Another example of how we are as individuals is my hand. I have five fingers on each hand. They are all a part of me, but each one is unique. They are a part of me, but that does not mean I wish for them to merge with my body and disappear. That would be no use to me. Each finger is important.

That is how I see it in a nutshell.

    I find no disagreement here.

So are you saying that the thought process of a man, both his good and his evil is represented within Deity and devil?
Certainly a very Christian approach. Thank you for your contribution.

No I am saying that we are part of a ray of creation, vibrations reach on up to become light. Deity is symbolic of one end of the spectrum a symbol for something we do not directly apprehend unless you do in which case you know I am in you and you are in me and as above so below.

The question of Deity is such that it falls within the realm of human understanding and without at the same time.

Ok, that makes more sense, as originally worded it sounds as if it is dependent on an understanding of human knowledge.

    Thanks for the clarification.

Interesting points. The Hebraic etymology behind the word Satan is 'the returning breath of God.' This plays into an understanding that the Devil was a necessary and essential part of the 'plan.'

Back in college I used to enjoy asking people, 'Where is God?' The obvious Christian response is, 'everywhere.' To which I would ask, "Then was he in the mind of Hitler as he was planning out the evils of World War II? Does he exist within Hell or within the devil?"

In a multiplistic understanding of the universe, where everything is sacred, it is acknowledged that there are those forces that are destructive, and even those that we see as downright evil. But because it is all a vibration as Thedope says, if you focus too hard on the negative (evil), then sure, you will get a negative reality, but there will also be positive repercussions. If you focus to hard on the positive (good), then you will get a positive reality, but it will have negative repercussions. The wisdom of all these ancient ways is to find the balance. In that balance you can focus on only the good, but you have to understand the cost of that good---it is the cost that counteracts the bad. Everything in nature has a cost.

But different from thedope, is that deity is not one end of the spectrum, it is both ends and the middle too, and even the waves moving up the spectrum.
