ya it's getting a little trite and cheap this season. Manny shows her tits, Liberty gets pregnant, not exactly the most original and fresh plotlines. I remember when I first watched Season 2, man, i was so hooked! Now, all the good characters are either gone or they've changed them so much.

ummm...the reson they have someone getting pregneant again is cause the first time they had an abortion, now this time she is keeping the baby and then they wil have a story to go along with that...

its funny, but thats why i like it--and cause the origional show was a hoot (thank you CBC for reruns well into the 90's and 00's). "School's Out!" was awesome as well

A couple weeks ago the N was having midnight to 3am marathons of Degrassi Jr. High and Degrassi High, calling them "Degrassi Old School". Of course, I had to stay up until 3am for 2 weeks to catch them all.

I like the Next Gen, but it's really just the same stories as the old Degrassi. Spike gets pregnant... Liberty gets pregnant. One of the twins (Erica, I think) has an abortion, Manny has an abortion. Craig steals a car, Joey and Wheels take Snake's parents car. Claude shoots himself in the bathroom... apparently someone kills themselves this year, but also, there is the whole Rick thing. Kathleen gets beat by her boyfriend, Terri gets beat by Rick.

Its all the same... but still a major guilty pleasure of mine. I'm 27... and every friday I watch Degrassi on the N.

yeah, one of the only things that has been real differnt was Rick shooting up the school...

besides, you forgot another similarity... Wheels got molested in the station wagon, Emma almost got molested in the hotel by that internet guy [it was the first episode]

oh yeah--Craig, Jimmy, Marco and Elly are in that band, just like Joey, Snake and Wheels [i think it was those three]

Did anyone ever see the degrassi movie School's Out? I've seen that hundreds of times, it's always on, and somehow I still manage to sit down and watch it. Joey has sex with Tessa while he's still dating Caitlin, and then he has sex with Caitlin and makes her believe he's still a virgin. And Wheel' gets in a car accident with Lucy and kills a litte boy from drinking and driving. They just started to repeat all the degrassi episodes here, so I've been trying to watch them, even though I've seen all of them a number of times lol!

I live near Toronto, and the last time I was there I was sitting at a red light waiting for it to turn green, and I saw the guy who plays Toby on the new Degrassi show walking out of a cd store. So I was like "Hey, isn't that Toby from Degrassi?" so my friend yells out the window "HEY TOBY FROM DEGRASSI" haha, the guy looks at us, smiles and gives us a little wave. It was pretty funny, he looked at us like we were nuts haha!

yeah, ive seen it--they brought up Wheels' accident in one of the first episodes of the new series at a reunion...wheels is outside, and the girl he parylized talks to him about the accident, and he apologized or somethign...

my sister said when one of her friends turned 18 [a while back, but i don't know if Degrassi High was still ne] but they went to a bar and Joey Jeremiah was there

What a show, its so over the top dramatic, their lives are always crashing down around them, and at the end of every episode they are all a little worse off. But I love it too, just to laugh at how ridiculous it all is.

I loved that show when i was a kid. We all had crush on Joey and were waiting for him to get together with Caitlin. I saw one episode of the newer one but it isn't the same. I suppose it is for the new generation. God this show takes me back :)

I don't know if it's just me, but I don't think real kids have that many problems. Certainly, not the same circle of kids. Now, I'm not saying I'm perfect or anything, but the biggest problem I 've had recently was whether or not I should have a Gogurt or Fruit by the Foot for lunch. Is Degrassi losing it's touch, or am i just delusional?

They definetely exagerate things. One person cannot go through so many differing things but it's the way they deal with the issues, that made the original show so successful and popular. I wish they would play the original again, show where those actors are now more than 10 years later. It would be so weird watching it now.
