This album is going to be album of the year to most people, i can tell. its so fucking solid. Its album full of joyous guitar flourishes and swanky drums and strong bass lines. The flow is incredible, with the first song being the shortest but the greatest moment they have made. From there it just gets catchier and catchier. Once the middle of "microcastle" kicks in, thats when deerhunter totally kicks in. then theres 3 songs that are 2 minutes each that serves as a well needed ambient rest until "nothing ever happens", the loudest song on the album. Sonic youth noise jams meets the strokes...so good. the end is the best, it makes you forgive them that they totally were jamming for a long time. There is a guest spot from Cole Alexander(Black Lips) on "saved by old times"...then the end is just glorious. Highly recommended.
my cryptograms/flourescent grey ep vinyl set is one of my most valued possessions. I hope there will be a good pressing for microcastle.
