Deep Clensing & De-waxing In progress :D

Hey Guys, Im currently sat with a very heavy towel on my head, trying not to itch!
I made the deep clean solution with the normal bicarb, pure salt, tea tree, lemon, then I added essential orange oil to assist the wax removal
It currently has about 1 hour & 1 minute left till washing it out.
Any tips on how to get any wax that is left out? I honestly dont know what its doing! I can just hear a slight fizzing from it, but I dont know if that means wax is burning away or my hair is
Do I just wash it out normally or have I got the squeeze the dreads that have wax in?

Well.... I have now rinsed all the solution from my hair!
But to be honest, the orange oil didnt do anything! Im thorough pissed off!
The wax doesnt want to come out at all, I put 20-25 drops of orange oil in
Woo!

 

I'm pretty sure turpentine (or turps substitute) will dissolve wax reasonably well. You should then be able to wash the turps out with soap.


Edit...

Scratch that, internet says you need to use lacquer thinner to dissolve beeswax (turps may still help) but your getting away from things I know about and I wouldn't fancey putting anything called lacquer thinner on my hair. Apparently you can also dissolve it in Carbon tetrachloride which you might find in some specialist fire extinguishers (Halon 104) but it rapes the ozone layer.

sorry mate I was editing you replied. Turps or turps substitute is used as pain thinner and is reasonably harmless (especially real turps, but its getting hard to find) lacquer thinner I assume is used for thinning lacquer wood finishes but I imagine its probably far more volatile (quick drying) and than turps and thus probably quite dangerous to use.

Lacquer thinner is somthing you really want to keep away from, after spraying miles of lacquer i want to stay clear of it atleast.

maybe find a mild citrus cleaner rather then using an essental oil, the oil might be to refined and lose the citrus cleany goodness.

 

some have sworn by dawn dish soap too

strange that the orange oilds worked god for some not others..wonder if some brandsds are more concentrated?

perhaps also its the type wax u used, some also have needed to fdo several treatments

\dunno if it'll work on wax butyit suposedly gets all sortsa crap oputta clothes and tiles and u name it..iit might be worth experimenting with if any1 has any

 

i wonder if that goo gone stuff would work? there's an orange essence form of it... it took the adhesive right off the walls when we were moving, and even erased oil pastels from the walls. it's wicked fumey though, so i would be careful not to get any on the scalp and wear rubber gloves while doing this.

i use arm and hammer powdered laundry detergent to wash my oily massage sheets, and it takes that shit out even in cold water. that might help.... especially if it's in really hot water.

but, i dont think you want to put something that rapes the ozone on your head.

oh my! I would definitely choose beeswax over paint thinner in my hair... I mean, yikes!

ive taken out about 8 or 9 of my dreadies.. ganna do some more tomorrow

dishwash stuff? it helps to get sticky things of you dishes, I know some people who used it to make their hair less oily, so maybe it will work on wax too?

 

yeah, used that last time to take my dreads out hah. ive taken about half of them out now,, ganna do some more in a bit

 

Perhaps just make a strong baking soda rinse (like just past pasty, enough water to make it run into your hair but stay put) and put a lot of orange oil into that. I'd let it set for a while, then wash it out with dish soap. I would suggest that.
