    seriously, how can anyone in the world like it? i'm a lover of nearly all music. i can see talent, thought or some musicalness is anything. i listen to everything from classical to cheesy pop to trance to jazz to rock... but death metal is the most pointless, crap and inaudible kind of music ever

    i disagree too :p we'll probably have a heated debate now since we're talking on msn, but it rocks in a strange kinda way! :p
    it isn't the sort of music i just sit n dig, but i disagree that it is pointless

    my brothers are in a death metal band... they call themselves extreme metal... but anyway... that kind of metal is freaking GREAT... i dont listen to it in my spare time because Im more of a hardcore guy than a metal guy... but metal takes TREMENDOUS talent... in all the instruments... just watching my brothers band play is amazing... everythings so fast and the drummer is awesome... thats where the real talent is... thats where the most complicated melodies exist that sound the best...

    some times people get turned off by the growling/screaming but I get off on it.

    what do you mean "melodies"? i'm a musical genius, and i hear no melody. the guitar riffing is all the same and its not "complicated" its just crap riffs hidden by ridiculous distortion over a drumbeat (the drummer's are quite talented in death metal, i admit that) and a load of screaming... the real talent depends. on song writing, talent lies where the most popular things are. on performance, the real talent lies in classical and jazz...

    you're a musical genius? thats cool... :p
    if in songwriting talent lies where the most popular things are, then how come a small minority has heard of Duke Special and Snow Patrol are all over the UK?

    there is as much talent in rock music as in classical and jazz. no argument.

    I wouldn't be so quick to write it off. It can be so deep at times. There's this really great song by Chimera, it's so powerful and moving, and filled with love and artistic expression. Pure lyrical genius... it goes something like;

    "I hate everyone, I HATE EVERYONE, I hate everyone, I HATE EVERYONE... MOTHERFUCKER!"

    Amazing isn't it?
