i just wonder why so many popular people died at 27 (Hendrix, Morrison, Joplin, JOnes...) is it the age? magic?
Not magic, simply a point at which you reflect on your accomplishments and decide whether or not you accomplished what you thought you should have. Some people don't have the strength to accept that they can't actually map out their entire lives. Somethings just happen. And you are either open to it or not.
oh man...even more 27-year old dead celebrities... there is smth mysterious about this young beautiful and dead...
i spent most of my childhood fearing i would get stuck in chronic hysterisis at that age if not 26 or even 23. i thing a number of otherwise wierd paths taken in my life at that time may be the only thing that saved me from this. =^^= .../\...
and you forgot about 18 (less famous) other musicians and then theres 20 non musiscians. its called club 27, http://www.blender.com/guide/articles.aspx?id=1913 its number 8.
Its the thing to do. Make good music, burnt out on some hard substance, and eventually OD at 27. Its my 9 year plan. Load the shot gun, I'm on my way Kurt! Nah I'm just kidding. It really is concidence. I have a poster "Forever 27" that I bought at my local headshop a few years ago. I remember looking into all of this pretty deep, and coming up with nothing.
I think it has a lot to do with influence over one another. Janis jokingly made a bet with Jimi about who'd die first. When Jimi overdosed, Janis went only two weeks later.
The 20-something years are rough, trying, difficult years. I'm not sure why that is, but those tend to the years of abuse, and years in which you're paying dues and seemingly getting little back from it. It all gets easier at 30, and if it's not, you care a little less. Just my $.02's worth.
