Dealing with parents.

My father just came in here with an article from the New York Post.
The article was focused on claiming all 9/11 "conspiracy theories" were false.
He said "this should be some good reading for you." and gave me a huge lecture on how great our country is, etc etc.
When I told him I thought we had no right to be over in Iraq he got angry and told me if I don't like it, to "get the f*** out and go to Mexico."
How do I deal with this?
Anyone with similar problems?

Though I don't think you should take what he said, about getting the fuck out, literally.

Just let him sprout his views, but secretly keep your own. You're not going to change his mind I'm afraid, just like he isn't going to change yours.

see, this is what makes me really appreciate my mom. she is a hippie, i mean with a capital H! she's all about how the government is against us, 9/11 rumors, ect, i was raised to never trust the man, and she taught me a lot. i guess im really fortunate to have her

You reach an age when your view change from your parents, you have a right to say your mind. Some parents just can't accept that.

 

Your dad is a closed minded dweeb. But you know what....this country is full of ignorant people. He's probably thinks bush is a good president... probably doesn't believe that global warming is real... reads the fucked up newspaper and watches the network news every morning and evening and believes the lies that he here's. He probably thinks alcohol is OK and marijuana is from a devil. I don't how old you are but you aren't alone when it comes to stupid parents. The world is full of them. You know your Dad is officially crazy about his American beliefs if he told his own daughter to get the fuck out and go to Mexico.. Mexico of all places. Damn... My Dad is quite the oppisite, actually I think he just hates president Bush,not so much the country.

 

There's very few people in Canada who agree with the war or support the US government. I've honestly met very few. Canada is really much less conservative... Get the troops the fuck out of Iraq and into Darfur!

 

That's where we should be instead of Iraq, but no oil in Darfur. Just humanitarian causes

yeah... what about a year abroad, student exchance stuff and so on? Believe me, you will only grow and become even more independant!!!

 

Over here, we're a bit more accepting of different beleifs.
