diddnt like them at first, but they definatly grew on me. and alot of their songs actually adress important issues. some people dont really think about it and think they are fucked up evil people. but really, songs like Kill The Poor and stuff are showing what things would be like. its showing that the rich buisnesmen use war on poor countries to boost their money and stuff.
yeah i agree at first i wasnt feelin them but now i think theyre good shit i cant believe no one replied to this thread
Most of their song titles sound evil but really they're ironic and mocking i.e. Kill the Poor Chemical Warfare Terminal Preppy. I have all their stuff they've ever put out if anyone wants it PM me and i'll mail you some stuff. Its really fucked up that the band took all the rights to all their stuff and use it for commercials and promotional stuff (everything the Dead Kennedy's were against) and Jello, who basically made them who they are, is only left with rights to the Nazi Punks Fuck off 7".
I was in the punk scene from 1980- 1989. I saw the DK's play three times and even went to eat at a White Castle with Jello Biafra. I remember him vividly complaining that it gave him nerve gas. I actually partied with many of the bands that are now a part of punk history. At the time it was no big damn deal. Wild how things change.
Jello biafra, like a select group of others is a founding father in my perception of modern artisitc speechcraft. It is because of his work, and the work of various others that I can be thankful for my mutes. I have written several songs precisley in his form because he writes as I saw myself writing on such levels during early teenhood. My personal favorites: When ya get drafted, cali ubi, chem. warfare, H.I.C., Bleed for me, Moon over marin, Stars and stripes of curruption, cesspools in eden, chickenshit conformist.
Absolutely LOVE Jello, we have most of his speeches on cd and we listen to them in the car on occasion when we go on road trips and such!
Well dude, since you missed that boat you can always vote for the independent party in which biafra is apart of. Fuck Yeah, that's what I'm talkin'bout. And at the highest magnetude of that sentiment, and hense expression, is why I say we need to alertly turn it all back to our own impulses and senses, so that it's not just the "rich businessmen" calling the shots, yet all of us collectively extant-responsibly. I myself get short sighted of it sometimes, why I can't seem to leave it behind.
One of the best punk bands of all time I.M.O. It was a shame that the band had a lot of internal problems (and still does). I'm hesitant to say this, but I think the DK logo has turned into a brand.
