The DEA has once again refused to reschedule cannabis from Schedule I saying it has no accepted medical use...

Can you believe that? In this day and age? When I have seen hundreds of people who have medically benefited from cannabis.

What a farce the DEA is!

    Obama where is your conscience?

I rule that this is a conflict of interest for the DEA to make these rulings.

The agency would suffer greatly if cannabis were legal, requiring far fewer personnel and less funding. So it will NEVER be in the DEA's self-interest to reschedule cannabis!

the statement that there is a lack of "adequate studies... on its usefulness or safety" is a flat out bald faced lie. They know full well that there has been a vast number of studies funded directly by the US government (and then swept under the rug). The only problem is that they always draw conclusions that don't line up with the drug war policies!

Why don't we just give the DEA rights to open up our heads and wire us to behave and act according to what is most efficient and stable?

I mean it's fairly clear that our own minds are off limit, and that we should not be trusted with them.

Who the fuck had the bright idea of letting the same guys who enforce the rules make their own pork barrel rules?

The "drug enforcement agency" should be tasked with assessing the purity and growing conditions of marijuana and other drugs. They shouldn't be setting their own agenda, and they shouldn't have ANY hand in the law or any process involving the law or changes therein.

As for where obama's conscience is, I think repeated flip flopping and lies on this issue shows where he stands on pot. And I think not giving bradly manning a medal and full pardon for any transgression he might have ever committed shows exactly where obama's conscience is.

We are told the US has a strict separation of powers. It looks like the DEA is using at least two if not three.

    "no accepted medical use"

Neither do vitamins, fruits, vegetables, or anything that is not making obscene amounts of money for the pharmaceutical industry.

    "chemistry is not known"

They mean big business can't patent it. And they are pissy because synthetic thc turned out to be disturbingly different than marijuana.

What are these so-calles 'known risks'?

I hate to use the alcohol argument, but it's a fucking legal RECREATIONAL drug that can destroy your liver while you punch people then drive away and kill others.

How do alcohol's benefits outweigh its risks???

Screw the alcohol, how do most pharmaceutical's benefits outweigh their risks?

This is such blatant bullshit, the kind of stuff that makes me want to kick the whole government's teeth in for lying through them.

It's fine if you get bleeding ulcers from arthritis medications or a stroke from birth control, EVEN THOUGH THEY WENT THROUGH 'RIGOROUS CLINICAL TRIALS' but there are some mysterious risks of mj, known ONLY to the DEA. And even if you feel no ill effects and marijuana is therapeutic for you, you cannot decide for yourself.

Wow, that's terrible. It seems like the heavy-handidness of the government just gets worse and worse.

I went to a doctor one time-he was a nice guy, really-he said that a DEA agent had come in and posed as a student one time-he prescribed some kind of medication for her, and the DEA slapped a huge fine on him and took his license away to dispense controlled drugs for a year. All because they didn't think he should have been prescribing this particular drug in this circumstance (as if that was any of their business anyway). He said that after that he was paranoid and thought that any patient could be an undercover agent. Just terrible. This kind of thing is one reason I finally voted with my feet and got out of the US-everywhere you go there's some sting operation trying to trick normal people that are just doing their jobs and fuck their lives up.

As a medical patient myself, this is greatly disheartening. But I'll continue to trust my doctors, who have a real, vested interest in my care, over a government agency that profits from the war on drugs.

Not constitutionally; but through laws made and precedence over the years, yes.

I was addicted to opiates for 22 years due to a Back Injury. With Cannabis I was allowed to ease the sickness while withdrawing. Also since I now stopped Opiates I have been able to control most of my chronic pain. I have been On Pain Pills Again the last month. But only 3 norco's a day compared to 15. these will end next week. Since surgery is over. Please use tinctures and such while detoxing from opiates. And edibles and tinctures work really well for chronic back pain.
