Ian is an incredible vocalist, and played Jesus in JCSuperstar
Covertune is a decent singer, and did a video with Tawny and Whitesnake.
    Gillan all the way!

Ian Gillan :H the 3 classic albums "Deep Purple In Rock" "Fireball" and "Machine Head" are his best known work but he also recorded alot of great stuff with his later band Gillan...in my opinion he's also the best singer that Black Sabbath has ever had :p

David Coverdale's is a good singer and Whitesnake was a decent band but I did not like him at all in Deep Purple...the "Come Taste The Band" album without Richie Blackmoore is my least favorite Deep Purple album ever (and they made quite a few bad ones)

Just look at the songs they wrote with Gillan and listen to Child in time and Smoke on the water. He's the man!

Offtopic: I don't understand why Kurt Cobain has more votes in the greatest rock 'n roll guitarist thread than Richie Blackmore. Come on.
Well, maybe I do understand, but it just isn't right.

I prefer Dio, Heaven and hell is their greatest album without Ozzy. The first albums of Rainbow are two of my favourite albums. :)

Ronnie James Dio has a fantastic voice and I guess both "Heaven And Hell" & "Mob Rules" are better Black Sabbath albums than "Born Again", I just like Ian Gillan's voice is a little better ;)

the first two Rainbow Lp's were great,as was "Long Live Rock 'n' Roll"..these albums together with the 3 DP albums I've mentioned are Blackmoore's best work imo..and he's indeed a far superior guitarist than Cobain who could barely hold his instrument

Yeah, I ment the first three of Rainbow indeed. Long live rock 'n roll is a great album!

Blackmore rocks, and not only in Deep Purple :):

In camparative way for Deep Purple Ian Gillan was a better singer than Coverdale.
Beyond Deep Purple era David Coverdale was a better composer and leader than Gillan.
