So, cameron wants to 'extend privelige to all'.

Linguistically even this seems to make no sense at all.

Think - 'privelige' implies a state where individuals have advantages over individuals less 'priveliged' than themselves.

So - if you 'extend privelige to all' over whom does one have an advantage?

The concept then breaks down. As do most of 'Daves' concepts.

Once more, the PM has shown himself and his speechwriters to be simply a set of mediochreties, with an utter contemt for the intelligence all of you 'plebs'.

Of course. Boris is no pleb..........remember that come 'election' time.

I think he meant that people with money can afford to give their children the privilege of a good education etc. He wants to extend that privilege to all. Why should just the rich have the means to provide. I've never been a Conservative voter - however I've been reading a few Tory speeches and in particular Maggie Thatchers 'There is no such thing as society' interview - and I am leaning towards thinking she had a point. The Conservatives are not as bad as I thought. I might be wrong but Labour seem too concerned with going on strike - that's it.

I would gladly have no compunction in bursting into the conservative conference hall, leaping on stage and punching Cameron's lights out.He and his fellow Tory are rats and I personally detest them...That said Labour aren't much better.

they're engaged in a campaign of front line cuts which are political rather than pragmatic and govern for the rich while failing to tackle high level corruption and iniquity at the expense of the poor.

i'd punch 'em in the face.

They want to cut my benefits and try to get me to "Work" for a start...This is when I have quite bad mental health problems and panic attacks which make holding down a job untenable...I'm not kidding...I just got a letter...So it's personal. And the kind of jobs available to the "plebs" are mostly menial and often part time.Jobs that Cameron and his Eton cronies would never consider doing...I'm sorry,I just hate the tories...Politics is worth getting angry about in my opinion...I'm a green left-winger,and I just think the tories stink.

I basically think everyone should just stop working and have a giant Love-in...I will answer you seriously when I have gathered my thoughts somewhat...This debate has really opened up a can of worms for me involving so many variables that are not so simple to explain...

Speeches aren't meant to make sense - they're meant to provide framing for soundbytes to dominate the coming news cycle.

Of course the really interesting thing about Cameron's speech is how whiny it was. You'd think he was still the leader of the opposition, for all the shit he is giving Labour. Not that Labour don't deserve it, but after being in power for over 2 years, blaming the opposition is wearing a bit thin.

Especially when their plan to pay off the national debt would have us in a better place than the current one.

Good replies there. Glad to see that some spirit of resitance remains in this country.

My worry though is that as mentioned, Labour may not be that much better....but I think they'd perhaps be just a little bit better for us ordinary folks not born with a silver spoon.

My sympathies to anyone who is a direct victim of the cuts.

I wonder to what extent it's actually about the economy at all, and how much about imposing tory ideology on society? Personally I think there's a big element of the second option invoved.

    Have a nice weekend anyway......
